Her whole day was boring, but it was lightened by a rose bouquet that arrived around noon. Everyone in the office was very curious so it was a bit of a challenge to open the little letter that came with it without everyone around reading behind her shoulder.

Gwen,

I will pick you up tonight and take you out.

Silas

The hours didn’t pass by fast enough. It felt like forever and a day before she walked out of the building. Silas was already leaning against his car, waiting for her. As usual, he wore all black, his sleek smirk only making him that much sexier.

“I hope you told Amon not to pick me up.”

“I have arranged everything.”

Stretching on her tiptoes, she pulled his face down to her and pressed her lips on his. He was slightly cooler than usual which worried her.

“Are you alright?”

He grinned and crooked his lips as he opened the passenger door for her. “In the car.”

She quickly climbed in and watched him carefully as he walked around the hood and sat next to her.

“You’re worrying me…”

He started the engine and drove off. “No need. Depending on how much we feed our skin cools down.”

“So, you’re hungry?”

“Not really. We’ve been drinking a lot to keep us warm for you. Especially when you didn’t know about us, we did so to keep the façade.”

“Oh…” She wasn’t sure what else to say.

He chuckled, amused. “It’s not a bad thing and I’ll feed when we get home. I was just a little occupied this afternoon.”

“So, where are we going?”

“Somewhere special.”

“That could be a lot of things.”

She reached for his hand and weaved her fingers with his. Leaning her head back, she watched as he drove out of downtown and north towards the Heights.

“How was your day?”

She couldn’t help but grin at his question. Being with him in this casual way still seemed like a dream. “It was good but went by far too slow, especially after I got your note.”

“Just another reason to stay home with us.”

“I don’t know if I would stay sane.”

“You could help Amon if it is work you need. Or Rayen and I can keep you occupied.”

Her core immediately throbbed as she imagined all the things they would do to her. “I’m sure you could,” she said, her voice shaking slightly, unable to hide how much she actually liked that idea.

Her interest peaked as he drove onto a small road and parked beneath a large tree. Knowing Silas, she waited for him to walk around the car and open the door for her. Holding his hand, she stepped out and looked around.

“It’s just down the road.” With their fingers interweaved, he led her down the road.

“You’re making this very mysterious.”
