“Would you like me to make arrangements for Monday too? I can have a list by this afternoon.”

“That would be wonderful, and you of course have the whole Sunday for yourself to explore L.A. if you wish.”

She smiled excitedly. Maybe a little too excited for Mr. Seavey’s taste, as he seemed irritated. “Thank you.”

Rayen looked her up and down and seemed confused. “Are you going to the office this morning? I don’t see any meetings scheduled for you today.”

“No, I’ll be here, but if you need me to come, I can of course work in the office.”

“So, you are dressed up so nicely just for us?”

She wasn’t sure what to say, her eyes flicking to Mr. Seavey.

“Even though I appreciate it, there is no need to dress up for us, Gwendoline.”

“What would you like her to do, come in here with her nightgown?” Mr. Seavey seemed to have a short fuse today.

Silas moved slightly, his eyes hungrily and greedy glancing over her body, as if he wanted to see just that. Her thighs clenched slightly and she quickly looked away. Rayen seemed amused with a deep grin on his face. He, just like Silas, seemed to like the idea.

“I’m sure Gwendoline knows how to dress appropriately without overdressing. Don’t you, Gwendoline?”

She looked back at Mr. Seavey whose eyes burned holes into her, his eyebrows narrow, his face dark and jaw clenched.

“Amon you need to loosen up a little.”

Mr. Seavey’s eyes slowly slid to Rayen. “Must I remind you that Ms. Moore is our employee and not our friend.”

Gwen felt uncomfortable and stood up, needing to get out of this fight. “I don’t mind dressing as Mr. Seavey asks. If there is anything else either of you need from me don’t hesitate to message me.” She turned and left, not before noticing their slightly baffled faces.

Silas

Gwen was sitting next to Silas in the back seat of Amon’s SUV. She looked out the window, her fingers unconsciously fidgeting with her blouse. She had her hair up in a tight bun, exposing her neck, her veins pulsing underneath her smooth looking skin. His fangs were aching just looking at her. Not that he would hurt her, but she was teasing him without even knowing.

Rayen insisted on taking her to Los Angeles. She thought it was because of an open house but Silas knew that wasn’t the case. Rayen didn’t care for real estate. He did care for Gwen though and wanted to spoil her without causing suspicions. He wasn’t the only one, Silas liked the idea of taking Gwen out in the world, letting her see more than just the office and her tiny apartment.

Amon parked the car in front of the private terminal where their jet was already waiting for them. Gwen opened the door, and it took Silas all his will power not to speed around the car and help her out. They had to hide who they were, and it frustrated him, not being able to tell her the truth.

She walked to the back of the car, but Rayen stopped her in the tracks. “Don’t worry about the luggage, Gwendoline, that will be handled for us.”

“Oh,” she whispered, turned, and followed Amon who was already walking to the plane terminal. “How long is the flight?”

Silas could hear her heart flutter within her chest. She was nervous, probably never flown before. Rayen stepped next to her.

“Around three hours.”

She nodded and stepped inside the terminal, her eyes widening.

She looked a little lost, as if she didn’t feel comfortable in her own skin. She didn’t seem like a self-conscious woman, but in that moment she looked as if she wanted to be anywhere but here.

“Gwendoline, you can sit if you like while Amon and I take care of the paperwork.”

She nodded and walked over to the couch. Without a second thought Silas’s feet moved in her direction. She was like a magnet to him. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Amon giving him a warning look.

She’d chosen a seat close to the floor to ceiling windows and stared at the jet. Her hands pressed against her thighs as she took deep slow breaths. She was staring at the plane as if it was going to hurt her.
