“Shall I prepare one for you?”

Thirty minutes later she got undressed, while Amon added a lavender bath bomb to the water. As she stepped closer to him, she ran her fingers down his spine. “Will you come in with me?”

“Of course.”

She’d never seen him naked, not even yesterday, so she eagerly watched as he took off his shirt and dropped his pants. He was sleek, his muscles present but not as much as Silas’s were. Not wanting to make him feel uncomfortable she kept her eyes above his waist. She watched as he stepped inside the water. Amon took her hand, helping her into the tub and sat down so she could get comfortable between his legs and lean her back against him.

The water was hot and warmed up his cool skin. Closing her eyes, she rested her head on his shoulder and nuzzled her face against his throat.

“Last night… I didn’t mean to make you feel as if you aren’t welcome to cuddle in bed with me.”

His hand traced lazy circles over her stomach, his voice gentle and adoring. “You didn’t make me feel unwelcome.”

She giggled. “Do you not like cuddling with Silas and Rayen?”

“Amon isn’t ready to admit his love to me yet. You might need to give him another few hundred years for that,” Rayen chuckled as he walked in with two wine glasses. He handed the one with the thicker liquid to Amon while giving her the one with actual wine.

“Thank you.”

“I looked it up, but I couldn’t find anything specific about ibuprofen and wine.”

“I don’t think I’ll overdose.”

He nodded and ran his finger over her cheek. “We don’t mind calling a doctor for you.”

“I do appreciate your concern, but you’re making this more dramatic than it is.”

“You’re not feeling well. There is nothing dramatic about it.”

“Yes, but it’s just my period, not like I broke my arm or something.”

He grinned. “That is true. I’ll let you two soak a little.”

“We need a bigger tub so we can all get in together.”

Amon kissed her cheek, his chest vibrating with amused laughter. “I’ll keep that in mind.”

“Or we buy one of those hot tubs I’ve been seeing on TV.” Rayen kissed her other cheek and stepped out.

While she sipped on her wine, she leaned into Amon’s caresses. She used to hate his silence, now it was soothing to her soul. They stayed in the water till it cooled down too much, no longer being comfortable. He helped her out and quickly wrapped her into a big fluffy towel.

“I wanna get a little work done today,” she admitted, still feeling guilty for calling in sick.

“Would you like to set everything up in the living room like last time?”

“Yes, but only if you join.”

With a towel wrapped around his waist he stepped closer and took her face in his hands. “Sweet, gorgeous Gwendoline.” He drew out her name in a hum so deep and adoring her knees suddenly felt weak. “I’ve tried to keep you at a distance, tried to provide for you from afar. I failed and hurt you. Even after crushing your soul, you stand here before me, trusting and wanting me. I will never refuse your wishes to be close to me again.”

Lifting her hands, she hesitantly laid her palms on his chest. Somehow, she still was expecting a heartbeat or his chest to rise and fall as he breathed. Trying to take in each inch of his smooth, perfect, moon-like skin she ran her fingers over his chest and down his sternum.

“When I first started with you, I felt insecure, like I would never be enough for you. When you turned on me–at least that’s how it felt–I felt as if it was true. Nothing I did would ever please you. Now that you’re slowly opening up to me, I understand why you acted the way you did.”

“I was afraid of your rejection and at the same time afraid you would accept me.”

“Because you were afraid–maybe you still are–that I want to erase your past. Rather, I want to embrace you and your life.”

“I understand that now and stand before you asking for your forgiveness.”
