Why is he so nervous?
“I was thinking that we should move in together,” he said, his lips mashing tight as he waited for my reaction.
“Really?” My heart still raced because I was suddenly super excited.
Moving in together was a logical next step, and the idea of having him with me every time he wasn’t at the firehouse made my knees weak in the best possible way.
“Yes. I want to come home to you. And wake up next to you. And share my life with you,” he explained.
This man, who had been so scared of love in the past, wanted to share all of his heart with me.
“I know we practically live together anyway, but it’s not the same.”
He was right. It wasn’t. Knowing that we each still had our own apartment to retreat to if we needed to wasn’t the same as committing to sharing one space. There’d be nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. If things got rough, we had to come home. And home would be together.
“What do you say, sweetheart? Live with me?”
The smile on my face was so big that I could barely see. “Hell yes, I want to live with you!”
I hopped up from my chair and leaped into his arms. He was kissing me before I took my next breath.
“The next time I tell you I have something to ask you, I’m going to be holding a ring when I do it,” he whispered next to my ear.
This time, my knees did give out.
But his strong arms held me firmly in place, and I knew he’d never let me fall without being there to pick me up.
This was exactly the kind of love that I helped my clients find. And now, it was happening to me. I almost couldn’t believe it. I finally felt like I was living up to the quote on our office wall and the one that greeted our potential clients on our website:
Life is a puzzle. And our hearts are the most complicated piece. But they’re also the most important. So many of us search for our perfect match in vain and frustration, all the while knowing that meeting the right person makes everything else click into place.
This is where the magic happens. Welcome home. Let’s find your missing piece!
