“We figured as much. I’m surprised yourfiancélet you out of his sight,” Jade teases.

“I left him in the gym to torture some of the athletes. So what were you talking about?”

“Oh, you know, just how Penny’s hot classmate walked her all the way here.”

I let out a soft groan. Here we go again.

“Penny has a hot classmate?” Rei asks, clearly excited by the prospect.

“He isn’t mine,” I protest.

Thankfully, before Jade can say anything else, the server brings our food, interrupting our conversation. The sweet scent of sugar and chocolate spreads around us, making my stomach growl considering I hadn’t eaten anything since dinner.

“How hot are we talking here?” Rei asks after she gives her order to the server. “On a scale of cute to wickedly handsome?”

“Nicely muscled arms covered in tattoos, quite tall, although on the slim side, and while I couldn’t see his face because of the ball cap he was wearing, I did spot dark scruff covering his jaw,” Jade rattles off, while I pretend my whole focus is on my plate.

Which it is because I’m famished, and Macy’s has the best waffles in town. Plus, I have to be extra careful so I don’t drip any syrup all over me.

“Tattoos?” The surprise is evident in Rei’s voice.

“Right?” Jade asks as she munches on her food. “It surprised me too. I wouldn’t have thought Penny would go for the bad boys.”

“Why not? We all know about her crush on Sebastian Black,” Grace says, so matter of factly, I choke on the bite of waffle.

I start to cough, needing to spit it out, but the damn thing is stuck, making my eyes water.

“Holy shit!” Jade pats me on the back.

“I’m sorry. It was just a joke!” Grace protests. “It’s not like it’s a secret. I didn’t expect her to react this intensely.”

“Not that! Holy shit.”

Grabbing the napkin, I finally cough out a piece of waffle stuck in my throat and am able to breathe.

“Then what?” This comes from Rei. “It feels like I’m missing something here.”

“It’s him.”

I close my eyes, tilting my head back as I try to regain a little bit of decency I can. And you know, breathe?

“Him?”

“Sebastian Black!” Her knee bumps against my thigh as she turns toward me. “The guy outside, it was him.”

I open my eyes and give her my sternest look. “Will you keep it quiet?”

“I thought you said he’s gone!”

“No, I said Ithinkhe’ll be gone. Apparently, I was wrong.”

Very, very wrong.

“Sebastian Black is here?!” Rei all but squeaks.

Seriously?

“Will you keep it down?” I didn’t have to have eyesight to know we were drawing attention. “Not everybody in the ten-mile radius has to know.”
