“I called you ahuge, annoying asshole,” she corrects. “What gives you the right to boss me around like that and drag me after you like I’m some kind of animal?”

“Penelope…”

“I mean it, Bash.” I let out a growl at the name, but she chooses to ignore it. “This has to stop. You can’t keep acting like this. I’m so sick of this hot and cold treatment of yours. You want to help me one minute; you push me away the other. I’m not your toy to play around with. I…”

Another bout of thunder strikes, this one so loud it makes my ears ring, and then the sky opens up. The rain starts pouring just as my control snaps, and I tug her to me, pressing my mouth against hers in a hard kiss.

CHAPTERTWENTY-THREE

PENELOPE

Sebastian Black is kissing me.

The thought rings in my head as thunder rumbles in the distance, the rain pouring over us, but I barely notice it because Sebastian is kissing me, and it’s like my whole body is on fire. After weeks of pent-up tension that’s been building every time we were together, with every accidental touch and the feel of his eyes on me, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised.

His hand is cupping my nape, those long, lean fingers curling in my hair as he pulls me to him. His other hand lets go of my wrist as it slides down my side and on the small of my back, pressing me against him.

Sebastian Black is kissing me.

My fingers grip his wet shirt tugging him to me as I meet his mouth with mine, returning the kiss.

It’s like I gave him a sign, allowing him to snap completely. He lets out a loud groan, his grip growing stronger as his tongue swipes over my lips, demanding entrance and slipping into my mouth, tangling with mine.

He tastes sweet, surprising me for some reason. His pine scent only seems more intense now that we’re both drenched from the rain falling around us.

God, how this man can kiss.

His lips are gentle yet firm as he shifts the angle of the kiss. He nips at my lip before his tongue dips deeper, coaxing me to play. The constant push and pull makes the heat in my belly pool in anticipation of his next move.

My hands slide over his firm chest and around his neck, my breasts pressing into his hard muscles.

He pulls back, cursing silently. I let out a chuckle as I press my mouth against his jaw. He didn’t shave, so his stubble scratches my face, making tingles run down my spine at the sensation.

And his smell.

Goddamn, that man and his perfect scent.

“Birdy…” Sebastian’s voice has a warning note, but he doesn’t try to push me away, so I don’t stop.

Peppering kisses down his neck, I press my nose against his skin, inhaling him deeply.

Will I ever get enough of it?

“Did you just smell me?”

“Mhmm… You always smell so nice. And it makes it easy to recognize you.”

“So what you’re saying is that you smell me before I even open my mouth?”

Pulling back, I let my mind clear a little. Coming from his mouth, I can see how weird this whole thing can sound to somebody with sight.

“Something like that. I can’t see, but all my other senses are more intense. Scent, touch, hearing…”

“I guess that makes sense,” Sebastian whispers, his finger trailing over the side of my neck. My eyes fall shut as goosebumps pebble on my skin. “So I guess I better not change my cologne then.”

“No—”

My words are cut off by the sound of thunder so loud it makes me jump in surprise. I bump into Sebastian, his arms pulling me closer, wrapping me in the cocoon of his warm body.
