Now all they had to do was convince Gage to buy in.

An hour later, Avery stood with Xander, Jackson, and Sonny in Gage’s office.

“You want to do what?” Gage bellowed and the sound nearly had Avery’s eardrum bursting.

“The Death Riders are planning a major party at the Golden Ladder in Airdrie tomorrow night to celebrate their latest gun haul. Galen talks about it in the recording we found on Louisa’s laptop. This is our prime opportunity to take them out.”

“At a strip club with more than three hundred people? Most of them bikers? That’s insane,” Gage returned.

“Am I talking to myself?” Avery snapped as she placed her hands on her hips. “They’ve booked the club for their crew only. A private party. I called Keira about dancing tomorrow and I’m in. All I need is a wireless comm and you guys nearby. When I give the word, you move in.”

Sonny stood up. “Gage, you know I hate to agree with Avery--”

Avery interrupted Sonny with the middle finger.

They may be lovers now, but some things hadn’t changed. They were still butting heads about a lot of stuff.

“But,” Sonny continued as he glanced at Avery and gave her a wink. “This is a prime opportunity. They’ll be partying hard and won’t suspect anything. We need to do this.”

Gage ran a hand through his hair and paced back and forth.

“I say we take a vote,” Jackson suggested.

Dante nodded. “I second that.”

“I don’t know…” Gage shook his head.

“We know what we’re doing. You’re gonna need to trust us on this one.”

Gage looked at Avery for a long second and finally nodded. “No need for a vote. Let’s get it organized. Sonny, I want a plan from you, no improvisation.”

Sonny walked over to stand beside Avery. He slid his arm around her waist and Avery felt her nerves settle. Whistles and jeers filled the room until Sonny glared at his brothers and made a cutting motion with his hand at his throat.

“This is our moment,” Sonny stated. “We’re gonna show what happens when you fuck with the Hellraisers & Hellions.”

“Fuck, yeah!” Jackson yelled and everyone in the room got pumped up.

Avery felt the support of her family all around her. She knew that this was the right thing to do, even if it meant putting her life on the line.

Gage cleared his throat. “I want to speak to Avery alone.”

The members filed out of the room one by one. Except Sonny.

“I’m going to talk to Xander and Dante to get our plan ironed out. Meet you back at my place at nine?” Sonny whispered in her ear.

“I’ll see you then,” she nodded and fought back the urge to kiss him.

His blue eyes lit up with a fierce hunger that she knew all too well. He squeezed her waist once, and then made his leave.

“Sit down, Avery.”

“Dad--”

“I said sit.”

When the president gave an order, you listened.

Avery sat in the chair across from his desk and waited for the lecture.
