Heat spreads through me. “He did.”

“Fuck,” Sami groans. “Snow needs to up his game.”

“Didn’t know Dip had it in him,” Fallon states with a grin.

“He’s not normally like this?” Jenny asks. “Because I told him I’d kill him if he hurt Kennedy. And so far, he’s been really sweet, but if I’m missing something, I need to know.”

Her protectiveness of me is foreign, but very nice.

Laney shakes her head. “No, this isn’t normal for him. Don’t get me wrong, Dip is great. But I wasn’t sure if he’d ever settle down.”

“Laney, you’re gonna scare the poor girl,” Sami chastises before smiling at me. “Dip’s never done anything this sweet, but he’s a good guy with a big heart, and he really likes you. So, it’s not all that surprising really.” Her eyes bounce from one woman to the next before landing back on me. “All of our men were a little rough around the edges. We softened them. Like you are with Dip.”

“And you,” Fallon says, pointing at Jenny. “Little Man can’t stop talking about you.”

Jenny groans. “I like him so much,” she confesses.

Grace puts a hand up.

“Bitch, you don’t have to raise your hand like you’re in class,” Sami teases. “Just spit it out.”

“Is no one gonna tell her?” Grace asks quietly.

“Tell who what?” I ask, my interest piqued.

Laney sighs. “Sami told us there was gonna be wine. Pour the booze, and then we can get to the heavy stuff.”

Jenny pours wine into the plastic cups that are one of the few cupboards, and when she passes them out, a wave of unease washes over me. I’ve never served wine in plastic cups before. Only ever crystal wine goblets that had to have cost Michael a small fortune.

“I, uh…” I lower my head. “I’m sorry I don’t have anything nicer.”

“Girl, what the fuck are you apologizing for?” Sami demands. “Booze is booze, and none of us give a rat’s ass what we’re drinking it out of.”

I lift my head. “Really?”

“Really,” Fallon confirms before gulping down almost half her cup.

I take a small sip of the wine Jenny poured for me, and it’s all I can do not to spit it right back out. Wine has never been something I enjoyed, but I don’t have the heart to tell Jenny that, so I’ll sip on it very slowly. Besides, I still haven’t figured out what alcohol Idolike, so it’s not like I can ask her for something else.

“So, back to the whole ‘is anyone gonna tell her’,” Jenny prompts.

“Oh, right.” Laney and Sami exchange a look before they both level their gazes at me. “You’ve been claimed.”

“What?”

“I knew it!”

Jenny’s excited exclamation drowns out my question.

“I told you,” Jenny says, smacking me on the arm. “That man is so nuts about you, he staked his claim.”

“I…” I narrow my eyes. “What does that mean, exactly?”

“It means you’re his,” Fallon explains. “It means that he will love you forever.”

Love?

“It means he’ll kill for you, die for you, do anything to make you happy,” Sami adds.
