Page 33 of Sleep for Me

Mulishly, she avoided the issue. She didn’t want to think of anyone from outside breaking into the weird sanctuary of the cabin. “I thought you were going to kiss me.”

“Here then.” Those magic hands of his trailed up either side of her neck, cradling her head firmly just below her ears. A wicked gleam glowed in his eyes when she quivered. “Still think you’re ready to go all the way?”

When his hands were on her, the answer was always yes. They erased her nerves and boosted her confidence, rewiring her system to accept whatever he suggested. “Y-Yes.”

“Hmm, so eager to experience what you don’t know.” His mouth was only a hair’s breadth away from hers. Warm breath whispered over her skin. “You’re going to have to tell me what you like and what you don’t. I can be demanding.”

All she wanted was him. Caera discovered a searing need to be with Saul, however he would have her. Demanding or not, he ignited something exciting and alive inside her, in the places where darkness and cold fear had reigned for so long.

Saul must have read something pleasing on her face, because before she could stutter a reply, he claimed her. She moaned longingly, thrilled by the press of his lips against hers, the sweep of his tongue along the seam.

With a laugh, he broke the kiss and lifted an eyebrow. “Don’t be shy now, little rabbit. I’ve already had my tongue in your mouth. But…perhaps it’s not these lips you want me to kiss?”

Baffled, she blinked at him. “These are the only lips I have.”

Slowly, his gaze lowered down her body to where she sat. His lips curved into the wickedest smile she’d ever seen. “No, Caera. They’re not.”

Every pulse point in her body throbbed as she realized what he meant. She shook her head. Fingers there was one thing, having his mouth…no, not happening. She didn’t care if it was an integral part of having sex, she wasn’t doing it.

The worst part? She couldn’t even tell him why.

When his eyes lifted to her face, Saul frowned. His thumb skimmed her cheek. “That’s leeched the color from your face. Just breathe, little rabbit. I won’t do anything that causes you pain.” Pausing, he studied her carefully. “Are you sure someone didn’t hurt you in other ways, Caera, as well as whipping the living daylights out of you?”

Her lip trembled, only to be soothed by the rough pad of his thumb. She wasn’t sure of anything anymore, and she was starting to question everything she knew about herself.

Sit up and spread your legs. Wider.

Don’t whine, just do it.

How are you ever going to be top of the class if you can’t follow a simple order?

Caera jerked, wishing she could claw that voice from her head. Ice trickled down her spine as it whispered through her, over and over again. Where the hell were these memories coming from? They couldn’t be made up, they couldn’t. Her mind was twisted, but even it wouldn’t torture her this way.

What had happened to her?

Running away from the voice, she threw herself forward, sealing her lips to Saul’s. She felt his body twitch in surprise before his arms banded around her, one around her back, and the other cradling her head.

When the bond between them tangibly strengthened, she welcomed it. When his mouth moved over hers, guiding her through the kiss, there were no voices, no nightmares, no worries that there was something tragically wrong with her.

Everything evolved, her heart leaping into her throat as he made love to her mouth. An experience completely apart from anything she could have imagined, amplifying her amateurish fantasies into a real-life phenomenon.

The way he held her, his fingers gently threading through her hair and massaging lightly against her scalp. The warmth of his body converting into heat pooling between her legs. She tasted the vague sweetness of the soda he’d drunk, the salty tang of popcorn.

He possessed her. With every gentle plunge of his tongue inside her, he stole fractions of her, only to replace them with his own. Mirroring his actions, she just let herself feel what Saul was doing to her, inside and out.

Caera moaned again, shocked by the lust pumping through her veins. Addictive, intoxicating, a shot of pure adrenaline to a system beginning to rev on a higher level. Instinct took over, urging her arms to lift and curl around his shoulders. Of their own accord, her hips rocked, rubbing her needy cleft along the ridge of his erection.

Saul groaned her name.

“Please. Please, I need more, Saul. I need…” She wasn’t above begging, she discovered. She would beg him until her dignity crumbled into dust if necessary. “God, I need you.”

Growling under his breath, Saul cleverly twisted them so she landed beneath him on the couch. His hands gripped the waistband of her jogging pants, and without hesitation, Caera helped him shove the offending article of clothing down her legs so he could toss them aside.

“Fuck.” Saul’s eyes went black as midnight.

She’d foregone underwear, and as she lay beneath him, legs spread and hips arching for his touch, her pussy was open and unobstructed to that searing gaze. “Saul, please.”

“You fucking tempt me like no one else,” he muttered, glancing up at her. His fingers reached out to tease. “Did I tell you how much I love these fucking curls? Soft, blonde curls,” he said absently, tugging lightly on them. “Protecting what’s mine. Hiding this pretty pussy.”
