Anna cut her eyes that way, “I see them.”

“At least one of them will be at the party we attend. I recognize him but not the other two.”

“So we’re starting the op now?”

“Apparently so. You getting this, Stash?”

“Copy,” was the reply in his ear.

“What do I do?” Anna asked.

“Just stand straight for me and breathe,” Nine said.

Anna swallowed once and nodded.

“He’s getting close enough to hear. So roll with me, okay?”

“Okay.”

Nine’s voice dropped, and an undercurrent of command threaded through it, “Eyes to mine.”

Even in her heels, Anna had to look up.

Nine stepped closer, cupping her jaw, fingers sliding into her hair.

“What do you say?” Nine asked.

“Thank you,” Anna whispered.

“Thank you what?”

Anna’s brows knit in a frown but then she caught on, “Thank you, sir.”

Nine brushed his thumb along her jaw, voice dropping even deeper, “Good girl.”

“Montague, you lucky bastard. Where’d you find this vision, and does she have a sister?”

Nine turned to the other man, sliding his arm around Anna and resting a hand on her hip. He nodded with a smooth grin, “Clements, if I told you that, I’d have to kill you.”

Anna inched closer, and Nine tightened his grip. Then he directed her toward the fitting room, “Need any help?”

Anna blushed, “No, sir.”

Nine brushed his thumb across her cheekbone. “Fucking perfect,” he whispered.

Anna turned for the fitting room and disappeared behind the curtain.

“And a collar?” Clements asked. “Never thought I’d see the day.”

“You blame me?”

Clements chuckled and shook his head, “Not one bit. Good thing you saw her first.”

“See you at the gala?” Nine asked.

“Wouldn’t miss it. Especially now,” Clements said, watching Anna emerge from the fitting room accompanied by one of the assistants carrying the purchases to the counter for wrapping.

Nine extended a hand in her direction, and she walked in front of him. He settled his hand at the small of her back and guided her toward the front door.
