Tanner and Shane looked…frustrated.

As one of the owners of the club and one of the richest omegas in the world, Tanner kind of always looked frustrated to me, but Shane was another story. The zombie apocalypse could be ravaging our city and he’d be cool and patient under fire.

So for him to be frowning, his family had to be involved.

Most of it wasn’t my business but Austin had been worried and made me play the legal version ofwhat ifseveral times over the situation. To say Shane’s family was interesting would’ve been a disservice to the word.

His mother and his aunt’s passion for omega rights had pushed their sanity right off the deep end and no one was quite sure what to do about it.

Even as they sat down with Tanner cuddling up next to his Dom, everyone glanced around like they weren’t sure what to say. But since I wasn’t a primary ringleader in their group or dealing with their chaos, I ignored it and focused on my boy.

Charlie’s movements were slowing and that seemed to be an indication that we needed to change something up. “How about you take a break from making me pretty and have a drink?”

When he nodded, putting the top back on the purple marker, I grabbed his sippy cup from the bag. He snuggled into me, carefully avoiding his coloring, and slowly sipped his juice, finally looking like he was paying attention to the people around us again.

Tanner took that moment and looked at Dakota. “Do not ask him anything inappropriate about those markers while Charlie is little…or Austin will kill you.”

Yep, Charlie’s giggle said he’d tuned back into the present at just the right moment.

Chapter 20

Charlie

They were so funny.

I’d have worried more about what Daddy would’ve done. I knew what Austin would do, but Daddy might get angry or offended that they weren’t being good around me. Daddy was the one they should be scared of.

Just imagining what he might do had me inching toward being bigger but I wasn’t ready to do anything drastic like talk yet.

I was curious…not crazy.

“So we’re not asking why you two look like you’re wandering around with little black rain clouds over your heads?” Dakota’s question made me giggle as Tanner rolled his eyes.

“I’m not that sugared up, overly earnest omega.” Tanner glared at Dakota a bit like he was pretending to be Austin. “I’m being a patient and understanding partner.”

That had everyone coughing and pretending they weren’t laughing, and even Daddy’s chest jerked back and forth. Tanner was huffing and being a very dramatic sub, but his Dom was trying not to giggle too.

Suddenly his rain cloud was gone.

Dakota was smart.

“My family is…making poor decisions.” Shane was trying to be nice because I was there. He peeked over at me and smiled. “It’s okay, though.”

Oh, he was so nice he was going to give himself a tummy ache worrying just for me.

So I poked Daddy’s chest and made him laugh, but he was a good Daddy and told them what I was thinking. “That is Charlie for he’s fine hearing whatever you want to talk about.”

Psychic Daddy to the rescue.

I was so funny I almost giggled, but that would’ve confused Master Shane, so I kept my giggles inside.

Master Shane and Tanner shared a look like Daddy and I would do when he read my mind. Master Shane was psychic too because he finally sighed. “I know.”

His family was nuts too.

Austin had told me lots of stories about his family so I’d know that mine weren’t the only ones who made stupid decisions about omegas.

When they were done with their mind-reading conversation, Tanner snuggled closer and seemed to have been picked to tell everyone what the problem was. “Shane’s mother showed up at my house earlier.”
