I’ve been able to gain back the weight I lost during my captivity and while that’s helped me go back to looking like I used to, there’s a stark difference in my appearance. Gazing closely, I realize it’s my eyes.

A quiet stillness has settled into them, making me look older than I feel.

Dad has been worried about me since the time I got back home. I never cared about his concerns in the past, even hating the way he nagged at me, but now, I cherish the time he takes to stay in touch with me almost every day.

Even though it’s not technically Dad’s birthday today, I’ve decided to look festive for the party. The least I can do for him is to reassure him that I’m so much happier with Seth, Oliver, and Simon.

A loud knock sounds at the door, making me tear my gaze away from the mirror.

“Rory?” Seth’s voice sounds from the other side of the door.

“I’m almost done!”

Picking up the hem of my dress, I walk across the room and pull open the door.

Seth stands at the threshold while Simon and Oliver are a step behind him.

The way they look takes my breath away.

Seth is dressed in a classic black tux with a white shirt underneath it. His chestnut-brown hair is neatly combed backward, enhancing his chiseled cheeks.

“You’re beautiful, Rory,” he says, gazing at me with warm eyes.

“You too,” I whisper without blinking.

Loud snorts make me turn my attention toward his twin brothers.

Simon and Oliver are wearing matching tuxes in the same shade of midnight blue. The tailor-made suits fit them perfectly, enhancing their tall heights and muscled bodies. Their bright blue eyes dance with mischief as they gaze at me.

My heart races hard, beating wildly.

“Doesn’t she look perfect?” Oliver says.

“She’s always perfect in my eyes,” Simon replies, his eyes burning with an intensity that makes butterflies take flight in my stomach.

“You guys look so amazing,” I say, stepping toward them. “I almost don’t want to take you guys with me to the party.”

“I don’t understand,” Seth says, looking confused. “Aren’t we dressed right for the occasion?”

“You never understand anything, Seth-bear,” Simon says, rolling his eyes.

I wrap my arms around Seth’s waist and inhale deeply. His natural rosemary scent reaches me despite the artificial perfume he’s using. “You look so handsome,” I say, resting my face against his chest. “I don’t want anyone laying their eyes on you. I must be the only one who gets to see you.”

“That’s exactly how I feel,” Seth says. His chest rumbles with low chuckles. “If you want, we can forget about going to the party and just spend the evening here.”

I groan. That’s exactly what I’d love to do too.

“We have to go,” I say despite wanting to stay back home with my mates. “Dad’s looking forward to seeing us all.”

“Nah, he just misses you,” says Oliver. “The party’s just an excuse.”

“You need one more thing to complete your look,” says Simon.

“Yeah?” I say, suddenly feeling self-conscious. “What did I miss?”

“This,” says Oliver, bringing out a narrow flat box made of dark velvet.

Seth takes it from him and opens the lid.
