“Is this your idea of a good time, sweet pea?” I ask, putting chewing gum in my mouth.

He shakes his head. “Oh, no, no, darling. Where are my manners? What would you like to drink?”

“Champagne,” I say. “I love champagne. The bubbles!” I giggle like a silly schoolgirl.

God, I hate this game. Remind me to never think this is a good idea again.

As he pours the champagne and hands me my glass, he places his on the glass holder he pulls down between us.

His phone rings.

While he’s busy on the call, I keep a keen eye on him and the driver and drop a pinch of crushed sleeping pills in his champagne.

If my plan works, with each glass I infiltrate, he would be passed out within an hour and a half.

I just need to keep his hands off me for that long.

The ride is a blur of dark roads and starry night stretches.

We eventually pull up in front of a mansion that looks straight out of a fairytale, with tall white gates, lush green lawns, and expensive cars parked neatly in an orderly row behind it.

Giant chandeliers hang from high ceilings inside the house, glimmering with every step I take.

Red carpets adorn the floors leading to different halls and rooms.

Loud music thumps through speakers scattered everywhere.

There’s an air of opulence - one only money can buy - surrounding this place.

My heart is racing as I step out of the car, Micky’s hand on the small of my back.

The party is in full swing, with guests dressed in their finest clothes.

The air is thick with the sound of chatter and clinking glasses.

Micky leads me into the main ballroom, and my eyes roam over the crowd, scanning for any familiar faces.

That’s when I see him. Enzo.

He’s standing by the bar, his back turned to me, but there’s no mistaking that broad frame, those broad shoulders.

I catch myself staring at him and quickly turn my attention back to Micky.

I need to avoid anyone with the slightest chance of recognizing me.

I nod, watching as he weaves his way through the crowd.

As soon as he’s out of sight, I find a corner of the room to stand in, trying to stay out of sight.

“Hi there,” a voice interrupts my thoughts.

“I haven’t seen you around before. You new in town?”

I look up to see a handsome man dressed in an expensive suit looking at me expectantly.

“Yes,” I say, smiling. “I’m here with someone.”

“Ah, I see,” he says, eyes roaming over my body. He leans closer to me.
