The flickering street lights cast eerie shadows on the ground, making my heart race faster with every step.

"Rosalie Battaglia?" A gruff voice calls out from the darkness.

"Y-yes," I stammer, trying to sound braver than I feel.

"Your mother sent us," the enforcer says, stepping into the light.

His face is rigid and emotionless, but his eyes betray a hint of sympathy.

"She's waiting for you."

"Is it safe?" I ask, swallowing hard.

"Can I trust her?"

"Your mother has found a place far away from all this madness," he assures me.

"You'll be protected there."

"Thank you," I whisper, relief washing over me like a tidal wave.

"Let's go," the enforcer says, gesturing for me to follow him.

"Understood," I say, facing him.

We climb into the enforcers' car.

Chapter 38

FELIX

The cold emptiness of the bed feels like a knife twisting in my heart as I wake up.

My hand instinctively reaches out for Emily ... Rosalie, but all it finds is cold linen.

The memories of her soft skin and sweet scent linger in the air, taunting me with what I've lost.

"Damn it," I mutter, swinging my legs over the side of the bed and resting my head in my hands.

I can't help but think back to the passionate nights we shared, how our bodies fit perfectly, and how her eyes sparkled when she looked at me.

It was more than lust – what we had felt was real, deep in my bones.

I had never imagined that the daughter of a rival mafia don would become the sole occupant of my thoughts.

But here I am, Felix Carlisi, helplessly yearning for Rosalie Battaglia.

"Rosalie..." Her name escapes my lips in a whisper, and I regret how things have turned out.

Our last encounter burns fresh in my mind.

"Tell me, Emily... or should I say, Rosalie?"

I remember my voice dripping with venom, demanding an explanation for the discovery of her true identity.

"Please, Felix, let me explain!" she cried, tears streaming down her face.

"Explain? Explain how you lied to me?
