But I knew that talking about it might help him. So, I just held him close and listened, offering comfort whenever I could. We stayed up for a while, talking and holding each other, until Hunter fell back asleep in my arms.

As he finished his story, I held him tightly, trying to offer whatever comfort I could. We lay in silence for a while, just holding each other.

I felt a pang of sadness for him, knowing that he had carried these burdens alone for so long. "You don't have to keep it all inside, Hunter," I said, cupping his face in my hands. "I'm here for you, always."

He leaned into my touch, his eyes closing as he took a deep breath. "Thank you, Becca," he said, his voice wavering. "I don't know what I'd do without you."

I squeezed his shoulder. "I can only imagine how hard it must be. But you don't have to face it alone. I'm here for you."

"I never wanted to burden you with my problems," he said, his voice barely above a whisper.

I leaned forward and cupped his face in my hands, forcing him to look at me. "Hunter, you're not a burden. We're a team, remember? We're in this together."

He buried his face in my neck, holding me tightly. "Thank you for being here for me, Becca. It feels good to know you're here."

I nodded, then I closed my eyes and breathed in calmly, letting my calmness create his. When he was completely relaxed against me, I pulled away and lay back on my side, patting the bed next to me. He smiled and pushed closer, pulling me closer to him.

"Twine your legs through mine," he said softly.

I did that, then closed my eyes again. He did the same, his breathing slowly relaxing until he fell asleep. But I stayed awake for a long time, replaying his words in my head and feeling the weight of his pain in my heart. I lay there, watching him sleep, it was in moments like these that I realized just how much he had been through. But no matter what nightmares haunted him, I was determined to be there for him every step of the way.

A Day in The Woods

I stirred from my slumber, the morning light filtering through the curtains and illuminating the room. I stretched my arms and let out a satisfied sigh. As I rose from the bed, I glanced over at Becca, still sleeping soundly. She looked peaceful, her chest rising and falling with each breath. She was sprawled across the bed.

I knew I couldn't let her sleep forever, as much as I wanted to, so I decided to make her breakfast in bed, a special treat for my girlfriend, besides it would make up for having to wake her up. For some reason, today I wanted to explore the woods. We had agreed on it last night, but after the last trail, Becca wasn't too eager to get back into a hike.

I tiptoed out of the room and made my way to the kitchen. I hummed a tune as I searched through the cabinets, gathering ingredients for my culinary creation.

I decided on pancakes, a classic breakfast food that I knew Becca loved. Becca cooked it better than I ever could, but it was it easiest meal to cook and I made it all the time. As I measured out the ingredients and mixed the batter, I couldn't help smiling. I loved being able to do something special for her.

Once the pancakes were cooked, I added fresh fruit and whipped cream to the plate. I carefully carried it back to the bedroom, not wanting to spill anything. It would ruin the whole surprise if everything came crashing to the floor off the plate and woke Becca up. When I reached the room, Becca was already stirring.

"Good morning, beautiful," I said, placing the plate on the nightstand. "I made you breakfast in bed."

Becca looked sexily disheveled, her eyes squinting in the room’s light. She turned her head towards me and smiled widely, then sat up and rubbed the sleep from her eyes.

"You did? Hunter, you're amazing," she said with a smile.

I sat down next to her on the bed as she dug in. "How did you sleep?" I asked, watching her with a greedy grin. I wouldn't mind having her for breakfast while she ate her own breakfast.

"Like a baby," she replied, savoring a bite of pancake. "These are so good. You should make breakfast more often. I mean, it's not as good as mine, but I wouldn't mind one this good."

I chuckled. "I'll make breakfast for you every morning if you want to baby me, and that was a very backhanded compliment."

They spent the next hour lounging in bed, chatting and laughing as they enjoyed their meal. I couldn't help feeling content, knowing that I was the reason for that smile, for that giggle that she just couldn't repress.

I leaned in for a kiss and took the plate from her when she was done. She pressed against me and returned the kiss with fervor. Her lips tasted sweet from the maple I had doused her pancake with. They were soft and succulent, just perfect for an early morning kiss.

"Mumm, do you want to go farther, or how about this, we forgo the woods today and spend the day in bed?" She asked, pulling away to stare at me with those big eyes. She added a pout to her lips and ran her hand languorously down my body, her eyes hooded.

"I'll give you a hundred percent for effort Becca, but we're doing the hike, besides you know you want me as much as I want you. I'm the only one who loses, that's not a compromise,” I said, pulling her towards me, the sound of her body sliding against the sheets a decadent crackle. I nipped at her lips.

"I'll make dinner tonight, you don't have to cook, what do you think?"

"I love cooking!" She said like it wasn't worth it to watch me cook. She had a petulant look on her face, and I chuckled. I needed to up my game.

"Then how about stargazing? You come with me; I'll watch the stars with you later?" I offered. It got cold outside the cabin in the evenings, so we hadn't done any stargazing yet, but we could make a bonfire tonight and watch the stars later. She'd love it.
