Razai’s jaw clenched as he watched me, unblinking.

Embarrassment had no place in my soul. If I allowed it any purchase, it might take over and throw me off. So I sidled into the space between his legs and climbed onto his lap, straddling him. Making sure to touch as little of him as possible, I leaned in and whispered, “Nosta is holding back.”

My lips brushed the shell of his ear, meaning he heard my gasp when he hooked his hands behind my knees and yanked me forward. The momentum sank my hips down, and the bulge in his pants ground against my pussy.

The men grumbled, and using their noise as cover, he whispered, “Distract them.”

Then, louder and without looking away from me, he said, “I know your business is involved, friends. I know you’re hiding something, and I know you’re selling on club grounds. Just one call to the president, and your operation is finished.”

The air crackled with shock and anger.

I used the opportunity to close my eyes and grind on Razai’s lap while he gripped my hips and played with the lace edges of my lingerie. My focus hazed. My spine arched. My flushed skin topped it off; there was no hiding that this wasn’t just a performance anymore.

I wanted him.

I really, truly wanted this man.

“You don’t have the sway to do that,” Nosta dismissed, but not without an edge of worry. “I know all about you, Razai. No affinity. No family to speak of. You’re a ghost of a man without a thread of influence, and the president—”

“The president isn’t a patient man these days, and I happen to have his ear,” Razai corrected. “If he hears what’s plaguing the students after what happened to his own… protégé, then he won’t hesitate to act swiftly and without mercy. Isn’t that right, darling?” He pointed the last question to me, punctuating it with a stinging slap on my ass cheek.

I gasped on the impact, and my legs quivered. Feigning ignorance and blind lust wasn’t very difficult. When had he lifted my tulle skirt? How had I not noticed or cared? I asked, “W-what?”

He purred, “Good girl.”

When he pushed himself harder against me, I held on to his shoulders and bit down on my lip. My head tilted back, eyes fluttering shut; I reminded myself that this was my role right now. And I was surpassing my duties..

Every sensitive part of my body ached to be touched. Even the soft lace rubbing over my nipples only heightened the sensations. There had to be a way to play this part and not be a complete puddle in Razai’s lap.

He marked the frustration and lust in my expression. He clocked my parted lips and hooded eyes. The flush in my cheeks.

He groaned, “If you keep looking at me like that, I’ll be forced to cut this meeting short.”

I paused and gave him a lifted brow. Was he serious? He certainly looked like it. More serious than when fighting with Cole or offering me a job, in fact.

His tongue slid between his lips, and the gesture practically traveled down my own body.

“Whatever you want,” I said, turning my gaze to the side.

But the archangel clamped my jaw in an iron grip and forced my face forward once more. “I didn’t say to look away, did I?”

“No,” I whispered.

He held my gaze until I squirmed, then released me.

I rolled my hips, pressing into him, and tried not to whimper as he roamed my body. His fingers dipping into the crease of my thigh, just brushing the edge of the lace, nearly made me keel over. Nothing was off-limits for him, and I didn’t have the strength or desire to stop him.

“Speak,” he commanded the silent men.

Redford asked, “New dancer? I haven’t seen her here before.”

“How should I know?” The heat in his low, gravelly voice sent shivers down my spine. He captured a fistful of my hair to hold me still. It was meant to be cruel and teasing. “Are you new, darling?”

“Very,” I breathed.

Nosta cleared his throat. “We’re not involved with anything you’re referring to. Our packages are a coincidence.”

Razai tightened his hold, and after what felt like an eternity, relaxed. He asked, “You know what they say about cockroaches? If you see one in the open, there are thousands more in hiding.”
