“Peaceful.”

I chuckle, thinking she’s joking, but she doesn’t laugh. The lines around her mouth deepen as memories of her past come crashing back into her.

“I love my parents very much, but I don’t think they ever loved me the same. Society tells us to have kids, right? But what they don’t tell you is to have them when you’re ready, and if you’re not ready, don’t have them. If you don’t want them, don’t have them.” She rubs a hand across her face in frustration. “I don’t think they ever wanted children, and then they had me, and I fucked up their lives with my existence.”

“Hey,” I say softly, cupping her cheek. “You can’t think that way. If they don’t want you—screw them. They don’t deserve to have you.”

She nods, her eyes searching mine, but she doesn’t say anything else. The two of us sit in silence for a bit, just watching our hands rising and falling on my chest. This moment feels like the intimacy I’ve been craving so much, and a part of me wonders how long we would be able to sneak around behind Ezra’s back.

Sighing, she sits up again and stretches. Her breasts push out as she exhales, and I can just make out the peaks of her hardened nipples through her shirt. When she lowers her arms, she catches me staring at them.

“Victor.” She says my name like it’s a caress, like we’re lovers in the throes of passion, and goddammit, if I don’t fuck her right now I’ll bust in my pants.

“Hmm?”

That mischievous glint is back in her eyes. “You know what would make Ezra furious?”

I swallow. “I’m not sure I want to know.”

“Fuck me.”

No, fuckme.

“No.” I sit up, shaking my head. “No way.”

She pouts. “Why not?”

I get up from the bed, putting as much distance between the two of us as I possibly can. Just moments ago, I was daydreaming about banging her into the mattress, but now that she’s adding reality to my fantasy, my buzz is sufficiently killed.

“Well, I—uh…”

“You want me just as much as I want you.” She stands up from the bed and saunters over to me. I don’t miss the way her hands slide down her breasts. “I’m not blind, Vic. I could see the outline of your hard-on from across the room.”

I smirk. “Great choice in pants, yeah?”

She’s standing in front of me now, so close that her nipples are just barely grazing my chest. She hisses at the contact and moves closer.

“Maya,” I warn, but I make no attempt to move away. In fact, I grab her hips and pull her body against mine. She feels incredible.

“I’ve never been with anyone other than Ezra,” she murmurs, her voice quiet with the admission.

“I find that hard to believe.”

She shakes her head. “It’s true. He’s my first and only boyfriend, and after I left him, I just never found anyone else I was interested in.” She looks up at me through hooded lashes. “But you’re different. You push Ezra in a way I’ve never seen anyone do, and for some reason, that really turns me on.”

“Yeah?”

She nods.

I lean down until my face is so close to hers, we’re sharing breath. I let my lips glide across hers in a caress. “Then I’ll keep doing it,” I whisper.

Before I allow this to go any further, I turn on my heel and stroll out of the room.

JAY

“Open up, Donovan,”I demand, banging on the front door. “We know you’re in there.”
