I tugged the shirt down past my hips as we walked towards the ship’s hatch. The shirt held a trace of his scent. There was something undeniably soothing about it lingering on the fabric. Soothing and magnetic at once. A subtle thrill traveled through me as I inhaled, getting stronger as it traveled lower in my core.

A jolt of awareness surged through me. It wasn't just a pleasant smell anymore; it was stirring deeper reactions within.

My clit tingled. Oh, hell no.

"I think I like you better in my clothes." Klinn kept a fixed gaze on me as we came to the open hatch. Cool, unfiltered air from the moon’s atmosphere drifted in, giving me added oxygen so I could smell more of Klinn’s scent and so more of my blood flow could increase to my clit. Joyous.

"It’s hard to tell when you’re joking sometimes,” I admitted to him another one of my characteristics.

"I’m not trying to make you laugh now."

Blood flow traveled from my clit to that whole woman nether region. What was I supposed to say to him while my body churned out the hormones in response to his sexy alien cologne?Gee, thanks, the color’s neutral but the shirt brings out my inner hoe?"Um, let’s get this done. The delivery, I mean."

"Follow me." Klinn slung the backpack over his shoulder, and we set out.

I took in more of the clean air as I climbed down from the ship and my feet touched the pale grey ground, stirring up a bit of the lunar dust. "Are Gravix and Zorbluk coming, too?"

"They’re staying with the ship."

I saw a road leading through the terrain of sandy ground and shallow craters to an enclave of tall, slim buildings with roof spires a quarter mile ahead. The architectural styles were a testament to Xaxos aethestics. From a distance, generators droned as they delivered power to the homes from the energy fields. "I’m sure some top brass in the Wanderstar Fleet owns retirement property out here." I glanced down at my shirt sleeve, noting how it was almost the exact shade of the lunar terrain. "Good thinking about blending in with the terrain."

Klinn acted shocked. "Are you giving me a compliment?"

My skin felt flush against the cool, almost cold, moon atmosphere. His teasing touched a nerve. A sensitive one, too, judging by how my clit continued to tingle. I almost wished I were offended. That would be easier to deal with.

I looked away as I walked alongside him on the road. "I always thought you were a little too good at what you do. That’s why it took so long to catch you the first time."

"So, it is a compliment."

"It’s not." My voice rose in volume with my insistence.

He was unruffled. "A bit of advice, Faye. If you want to look convincing, you’re gonna have to drop the vigilante detective act. Loosen up while we work."

"You have no idea how hard it is to go along with this right now." I lowered my voice even though we were out in the open by ourselves.

"Really?" Klinn kept his tone even and casual. "What happened to your whole motivational story about delivering pizzas in college and using that talent to help me get out of this hot mess in thirty minutes or less?"

"Can you stop joking for a moment? I mean this whole thing, not the delivery stuff."

"I’ll stop for a moment." He gestured towards one of the houses. "We’re about to make our first delivery.”

We neared the first development of houses. Gleaming domed structures with sleek lines and transparent front walls allowed the residents to savor panoramic views of the lunar landscape. The buildings, crafted from advanced materials, effortlessly blended into the lunar environment, their surfaces reflecting the shimmering light of distant stars.

Klinn adjusted his collar, making sure his appearance was presentable. He opened his knapsack and took out a carefully wrapped replica of an expensive vase. I recognized the shape from when I first saw it on a shelf in the storage room.

Together, we walked up to the grand entrance of our alien client's house, a sprawling mansion that seemed to blend futuristic design with opulence. Klinn pressed the doorbell, and after a few moments, an irritated voice echoed from the intercom.

"Who dares disturb my slumber at this hour?" the voice grumbled in Javorian.

I looked up to see a stout figure through the glass walls of the house. He glowered down at us from the second floor.

Klinn exchanged a glance with me, a silent acknowledgment of the bad timing of our arrival. "Apologies, sir, but we have the delivery you've been waiting for."

"One moment."

I watched the Javorian move away from the transparent walls upstairs. Seconds later, I heard his footsteps coming up to the front door.

The massive door swung open, revealing the disgruntled Javorian with wild bed hair and a face filled with annoyance. He squinted at Klinn. "Two days late, and you wake me up? Unacceptable."
