“Let him fumble around some more. Keep all entrances secure, and do not let Natalia get wind of it, understand? She is safe, and I don’t want her to feel like she’s not. Clear?”

“Crystal, sir.”

I nodded. “Good. When he leaves, keep track of him. I’ll cut this short and be home soon. And once I’m home, I want him captured and taken to one of the warehouses.”

“Understood, Sir.”

The line went dead. I pulled up my camera feed, watching as Natalia stepped into the bedroom, shutting the door behind her before she strode to the bathroom, peeling her shirt over her head. I groaned, my cock hardening.

But I wasn’t taking my eyes off her. Not until I was back in that house with her and could see for myself that she truly was in no danger…except from me, that was.

“Not much longer, baby girl,” I said quietly, watching as she bared that beautiful, curvy body to me before sinking into a bubble bath she’d started. My shaft throbbed behind the zipper of my slacks. “You better be ready for me.”

Natalia

Iplaced my hand on the doorknob of Rhett’s office. He’d left a while ago for a business trip, and being without him had actually been a lot harder than I thought it would be. And instead of ever “coming to my senses”, I only craved him more.

I knew he had come in late last night because when I woke up this morning, a new book I’d been wanting but hadn’t purchased was sitting on my nightstand, and the door was slightly ajar when I knew I’d shut it. He didn’t leave me a note. He never left notes when he left me gifts in person, but I didn’t need them.

Just the fact that I knew I’d been on his mind was enough for me. Rhett wasn’t a sentimental kind of man. His adoration for me showed in the things he did for me—making sure I was happy, taking care of me, giving me things to entertain myself with.

Living with Rhett Kastle for a month had been… bliss. Pure bliss. Sure, I still had my bratty, agitated moments when I lashed out at him over the stupidest things, but he always brought me to heel, calming me again. And God, the aftercare was something else. He was always so tender, making sure I had everything I needed after suffering a punishment. It wasn’t like before when he was trying to break me.

Rhett had gotten what he wanted—the one thing he couldn’t just take from me. He’d gotten my willing submission, and somehow, I knew he was rewarding me for giving him every piece I had of myself.

My hand paused on the door handle of Rhett’s office when I heard Rhett’s eerily calm voice speaking. He never lashed out at anyone. Everything he said was cold and calculated, and it was even more chilling than being yelled at.

“You’ve crossed a line, Frederick.” I swallowed thickly. Why was he talking to my father? “Nothinghappens onanyof my properties without me knowing. You thought I would leave Natalia unprotected while I was gone?”

My blood chilled in my veins. I’d known the house was being guarded because Rhett was a wealthy man—one also involved in illegal activities. He’d be an idiot to leave his fortress unattended. But he’d protected me specifically?

“Wrong, Frederick. She ismine. She became my property the moment you traded her in exchange for your life.” A weird, tingly sensation wrapped around my heart and slid down my spine at his words. I used to hate the idea of being his property, another one of his many things. Now? I craved it.

With Rhett, I was safe, taken care of, and adored. He may never return what I felt for him, but I was okay with that.

“You won’t have to worry about anyone else coming after you. From now on, the only person you have to worry about is me. And when I get my hands on you, Frederick, you’ll wish you’d allowed me to kill you the first time.”

Another pause. I held my breath, waiting on bated breath to hear what would be said next. “I don’t care for your pleas anymore. Frankly, they’re annoying. Trying to kidnap her was the worst mistake you could make.”

A cold laugh spilled from Rhett’s mouth a moment later. “Trust me, Natalia does not want to berescued, Frederick. And if you or anyone else tries to take her from me again, I’ll make sure you understand why people are afraid to cross me.”

I stepped back from the door, no longer wanting to hear more. Why had my father tried to kidnap me? What was his plan for me next? It was clear I couldn’t trust him. Hegave me away. He didn’t even care about me.

I was a pawn in his deranged, fucked-up world.

I placed my hand on the staircase banister and moved back up the stairs, heading toward my room. But instead, I stopped in front of the door across from my room. In all the time I’d been here, this door had never been opened—at least not that I knew of. And I desperately needed something to distract me for a moment.

What was behind the door?

“Open it,” Rhett softly spoke from behind me.

I squeaked and spun around to face him, my heart thumping wildly in my chest. God, he moved so silently. I’d had no warning he was coming. He inclined his head to the door. “Open the door, Natalia.”

Swallowing nervously, I placed my hand on the cool metal before pushing the handle down, letting the door slowly swing open. Rhett reached around the wall and flicked a switch, casting the room in a dark red glow.

It was a playroom.
