“Right, and then what?”

“And then I’m going to distract my father long enough for you to make your move,” I confirmed, taking a deep breath as the estate came into view. “This has to work, right?” I asked Molly as she squeezed my hand in her lap.

“I’ll be there as fast as I can.” She reassured me and I nodded, knowing she wouldn’t let me down.

“Okay.” I took a calming deep breath as the gate appeared and armed men jumped out of every dark shadow, circling our car as Dio came to a stop and rolled down his window.

I wiped my nervous hands down the front of my pants and put my poker face on as men peered in the windows, using their flashlights to see everyone in the car.

Part one of the plan.

Get inside the estate gate.

“I have Arianna Rosetti here to see her father, Emilio,” Dio said coolly.

The guards looked between themselves and back to me before one radioed to someone else, relaying the message.

Which meant that my father would know I was here, and that he was getting a chance to kill me as well as my husband. I knew he was conceited enough to take the opportunity.

Seconds later the head guard nodded his head once to Dio and the gate slowly opened, allowing us into the estate.

“Go time,” Saul whispered as we approached the front door. He looked over his shoulder at me and nodded. “Stick to the plan, and we’ll get you out as soon as we can.”

The door opened as another armed guard from my father’s team stood staring down at me, halting me from replying before I slid from the car with Molly getting out behind me.

The men stared down with scrutiny but remained silent as Dio and Saul got out.

One of the guards with a machine gun in his hands looked at my bodyguards and sneered. “You’re Capasso’s men.”

Dio shrugged his shoulders like he was relaxed and conversating in a bar, “Aren’t we all Capasso’s men? He is the Don after all.”

The guard scoffed and spit on the ground at Dio’s feet, “We’ll see for how long.”

“Are we going to stand here all day and chitty chat or are you going to allow us inside to talk to my father?” I stepped in, keeping my head high and my brow raised indignantly.

“You can go in,” the guard said, “Capasso men stay here.”

“Whatever.” I flicked my wrist, nodding to Molly to follow me. “The testosterone around here.” I scoffed, pretending to be annoyed.

When in reality I was shaking like a leaf inside. I didn’t know what I would find inside, if Nico was still alive, or if I’d make it out alive either.

But I knew his best chance involved me distracting my father long enough to carry out the rest of the plan.

I just had to stay brave.

As soon as we cleared the front door, more armed guards signaled for us to stop. One of them pushed me against the wall and started patting me down. My skin crawled the longer his hands touched my body and nausea boiled inside of me anew when they wandered over my breasts and between my legs, feeling for far more than weapons.

I waited the appropriate amount of time before shoving him backward and glaring at him. “Nothing in life is free, boy. If you want to cop a feel, hire a hooker,” he snarled at me but I turned my attention to the guard getting ready to grab Molly and search the same way I just had been.

But I couldn’t let that happen.

Part two of the plan.

Get Molly inside and alone.

“Molly, be useful for once and go get me a drink,” I snapped my fingers impatiently as she looked between me and the guard, playing her part perfectly. “Now!” I argued, ignoring the glares from the men. “I’m sure if you rub your two brain cells together you can find the kitchen.” I waved her off demandingly and then turned my attention back to the guards. “Where is my father, I’m growing quite bored of you all.”

The men glared at me, but they ignored Molly as she bowed once demurely and then walked off into the house towards where the kitchen was.
