“Enea, thank you for coming.” Forza shakes his hand, then shakes the hand of the head of the Southside Mafia, Elio Salvadori. “Elio, thank you as well. And thanks to all of you for coming to help us look for little Maddie.”

We met the Southside Mafia earlier this year, when Fuoco was kidnapped. This time, Elio has brought his consigliere, underboss and two of his capos.

Forza goes over what we know about Maddie’s kidnapping, and all the information we have on Travis and his wife.

“Wait. Is it really possible this asshole stole Maddie because he lost his other kid? What the fuck is wrong with him? And his wife just went along with it?” Mitchell ‘Granchio’ Harris, one of our enforcers, frowns. “What kind of people are they? She’s a baby. And she’s not his.”

I love my club brothers and sisters. The anger I feel toward Travis and his wife is mirrored on the faces of my family. We need to find my Maddie.

“Do we have a plan?” Carlo Fenati, Elio’s consigliere, asks.

“Not yet,” Forza answers.

“Does the little one have a tracker?” Elio asks.

The tracker that Elio is asking about is something we all have. It’s an implant that’s hidden just under the skin in case of something like this.

“No. Lila and Maddie are new to our family,” Forza says. “We haven’t been able to discuss the trackers yet, and why they’re so important.”

Elio nods. “Okay, so what do we know about possible locations? Does Lila know of any place they might go? Maybe a house the shitbag’s family owns? Or the psycho wife’s family?”

“She told Salvatore that his family doesn’t own property here. But she doesn’t know anything about the wife. Sal is looking into her now.”

“If it’s okay, I would like Mario to trace their path from the school to where they were lost on the cameras,” Elio says.

Forza nods and gives Mario the video footage we have. “Maybe fresh eyes will help. It’s been almost ten hours now.”

I get a text from Sal asking if he can come into the room and I let Forza know.

“Let him in,” Forza says to Fantasma.

Sal comes in and shakes everyone’s hands. “I have an update on Travis and his family. They were seen going through the toll from Naperville back to Chicago.”

“Can I see the footage? Were you able to see the license or at least the make of the car? Color?” Mario asks.

“We got the plate and ran it already. Here’s the address the car is registered to, but we already checked it out. From what we know, they moved out last week. But I have an officer sitting on the house. No one’s been back since we’ve been watching it.”

“Fuck. So now what?” I frown.

“Now you give me the footage and I will get one of my guys to see if we can find the car,” Mario says.

Sal nods and hands him a flash drive. “I know It’s pointless to say come to me before going after them. But can you at least give me a heads up?”

“We’ll let you know what we find,” Forza says.

“Thank you.” Sal nods. “And if you need anything, let me know. I need to go back to the station.”

“Thanks, Sal,” I say as I stand to shake his hand.

He hugs me instead. “We’re going to find her.”

I nod and take a deep breath. “I just hope he doesn’t hurt her.”

“My gut is still telling me that he wants her to replace the baby they lost.”

“Yeah, that’s what mine is saying too. It’s just so fucking hard to sit here and wait. I need to be out there looking for my daughter. And what if Maddie fights back?”

Sal doesn’t even blink an eye when I call Maddie my daughter.
