“Does this mean the silent treatment is over?”

I look up and see the streetlights highlight his dark hair. “I was processing my new world, not punishing you.”

“Maybe next time you do the processing thing, you can give me a heads up.”

“Absolutely.” He reaches out to stroke a lock of hair, gazing at it intently as he runs it slowly through his fingers. “I’ve got a lot to learn, Yuri.”

“So do I.” He shakes his head and lets his hand fall. “I didn’t grow up seeing a successful marriage, so I’ve got nothing to go on.”

“We have that in common.” I look down the street and hear a dog barking in the distance. “Talking to Gianna and Stasia helped. And it gave me a new perspective.”

“You’re the only person I have to talk to.” He moves closer. “So if I’m gonna get a new take on something, it will come from what happens between us.”

“So you and your soldiers don’t talk feelings after a rough day in mobster land?”

“No.” He smirks. “I know it’s surprising, but the Bratva isn’t all that touchy-feely.”

“A shame because it would be sure to boost morale.”

“No doubt.” He links our hands. “I didn’t think marriage would teach me such a difficult lesson.”

“And which one is that?”

“Having someone to lose is fucking dangerous.” His voice is thick with emotion. “You are the love that came without warning. The first morning we woke up together, I knew I had lost my heart to you. Even before I could say no.”

His chest rises and falls as I wrap my arms around his waist. “And I gave mine to you without even realizing it happened.”

“I’m sneaky like that.” Pressing a kiss to my head, he chuckles. “A marauder that will steal your soul without leaving a trace.”

“If you want to do more marauding, we can go home. Or I could do it and show you how lucky I feel to be your wife.”

“If anyone will be doing the showing, it’s me.”

I pinch his side and laugh. “What happened to happy wife, happy life? Shouldn’t I get to—”

“You will be happy.” He swings open the car door. “Have you ever not come at least three times?”

A young couple walking their dog stops momentarily and stares. “We’re newlyweds. Ignore us.” The woman gives Yuri a slow up and down and smirks. A part of me wants to tell her he’s twice as delicious as he looks, but the saner part knows to keep my mouth shut.

“If you’re done sharing the highlights of our sex life, we can go now.” His eyes glitter with mischief. “That was rhetorical. You really don’t need to say more.”

“I wasn’t going to.”

Leaning down, he kisses me with so much raw passion, it takes my breath away. The kiss is greedy and possessive. Like he’s showing the world who I belong to. “Take me home, Yuri.”

“Always.”

“And forever,” I murmur quietly.

CHAPTER TWENTY-TWO

Yuri

With no patience, I crash through our front door and set Lina down on the island. “That was the longest fifteen minutes of my life.”

“What do you need, husband?”

“My wife,” I grit out, sliding one finger past the lace trim of her panties. Tight and ready. Her juices slick her tight walls, and my cock throbs in response. Kissing her deeply, I add another finger and feel her hips shift closer.
