My dear knight,

Once upon a time…

Long, long ago…

There was a HANDSOME knight…

And a frustrated but BREATHTAKING paladin with infinite patience…

Who put up with the devilish rascal, because it made them both incredibly happy to take five minutes a day to see each other, share brief messages, and snack on unexpected delights in the moonlight…

But what that knight didn’t know was the paladin yearned for what she could not have, searching the world over for a treasure few would discover…

What a journey it would be - especially if they traveled together, pairing their skills and attributes that made each of them special…

Though she was scared, the paladin was intrigued – wanting to know more…

And the valiant knight vowed to sweep her away to a foreign land – far, far away…

So, she took his hand, feeling more alive and happier than ever before...

And I am – I’m so excited about our conversation and making plans. I do not think you are a dud at all… just the greatest of friends. I’ll let you know ASAP when I get my request approved.

See you tomorrow evening.

Giselle

Glancing at the computer,it hit him hard that it was Christmas and the items he’d ordered for Giselle hadn’t come in yet – and he wanted to gift her a little something special.

Riptide passed by the doorway at that moment and leaned against the frame, crossing his arms and looking at him.

“What’s up with you, Sparky?” he asked openly. “You’ve been humming, smiling, cutting up… and don’t think that I don’t see you talking with that girl on the other side of the fence every evening. Are you slumming, brother?”

“What?” he whispered, stunned.

“She’s cute, if you like them in camo and skinny? There’s nothing to hang onto with that one,” Riptide chuckled, uncrossing his hands. “Girls are supposed to have a waist and hips…” he said, holding out his hands. “Something nice to hang onto, you know?”

“It’s not like that,” Austin protested faintly, feeling his face and neck heat up. He never even thought about Giselle like that – but listening to the man that probably could date any woman he wanted, unbidden flashes were going through his mind like a strobe light.

Would she even be interested in him like that?

Yeah, Austin wanted to kiss Giselle, but because he felt drawn to her. He never even considered intimacy or what a deeper relationship would bring between them. He always wanted her to look at him with respect, treat her with honor, and believed deep within him that the right person should be treasured… not manhandled, not like the obnoxious pilot was mocking.

“Y’all meet every evening?” Riptide asked, grinning. “How do you even manage with that fence? Do you wriggle underneath it to land some personal one-on-one time or are you two just chit-chatting and smooching between the links?”

“That’s none of your business.”

“Oh my gosh… thatiswhat you are doing?” Riptide asked in disbelief. “How long has this been going on?”

“Drop it, Riptide,” Austin growled protectively, getting to his feet.

“What’s going on in here?” Ricochet asked openly.

“You want to tell him about your sweet little thing?” Riptide asked, laughing. “Our boy is in ‘La La Land’doing the ‘Walk to Remember’and talking with ‘The Princess Camo-Bride’… and wishing he was doing some ‘Dirty Dancing’…”

“That’s enough, Riptide,” Austin snapped angrily, yelling hotly and seeing red.
