“Oh goodness, the cake is fighting us! We have to press harder team…”

“I pwessing!” Luke screeched emphatically and Betsy said something unintelligible to Giselle, seeing Austin shrug out of the corner of her eye, and began laughing again.

“Keep going… arrrghhh… it’s fighting us, Luke,” Austin egged on the children – only to have the children begin getting irate. Luke slapped at the cake with his other hand and Betsy did the same, not a second later.

“Oh no…” Firefly jumped forward as Armadillo did the same.

Things were escalating fast – and everyone was laughing now as the frosting was being knocked off. Thinking quickly, Giselle shoved the knife down with the children and Austin immediately chimed in.

“You did it! You won!”

She grabbed two red Solo cups, turned them over, and shoveled some mauled cake inside each, popping a spoon in each cup.

“For our mighty victors… thank you for helping us defeat the cake,” Giselle smiled, giving each child a plastic cupful of cake.

They stared at her and smiled, just as both men scooped up their children, quickly getting them out of the way and letting them feast on the sugary gift from Dixie and Romeo.

Turning back to Austin, she uttered ‘Whew’ under her breath… as he hugged her easily and laughed, drawing her back into his arms as he leaned over her shoulder.

“Let’s try this again… just us.”

She angled her head, against his, touching their foreheads together and nuzzling his cheek.

“This is the best wedding and reception that a woman could ever have… and I am so lucky to have you at my side,” she said tenderly.

“I hope you always think that,” he murmured openly, kissing her.

“Alright… alright!” Alpo said, getting to his feet with his son propped in his arms. “Are ya’ gonna cut the cake or not? Dixie makes a darn good wedding cake and we’re ready for our slices, right Glory?”

“I’m on a diet, Hunter,” Glory replied in a loud whisper.

“Why on Earth would you want to dothat?” he said, looking aghast at his wife. “What am I supposed to hang onto? Besides, I love how soft you get and those…”

“Hunter – enough!” Harley said, slapping her forehead as Glory winked at her husband happily. “Nobody needs details from either of you. We get quite enough of that already.”

“Two pieces of cake please,” Glory said pertly and sighed. “I love him.”

“That’s right, babe,” Hunter winked obnoxiously, causing several to laugh with him.

Austin smiled, kissing Giselle’s cheek tenderly.

“I think I’m beyond ready to feed my bride some cake…”

“No shoving,” Giselle cautioned only to see him wink as he smiled proudly, leaning close and whispering softly in her ear.

She burst out laughing and buried her face against his shoulder, shocked at the words that were coming out of his mouth, hoping no one else heard him.

“What?” he said innocently, laughing.

“Cake, then dancing…”

“You got it, my love,” he smiled.

That night, when they were finally alone, lying in the bed cuddling at the bed and breakfast that belonged to Sophie and Reaper… Giselle broached the subject that had slammed into her mind, heart, and soul this afternoon.

“Austin?”
