“The last leg of our journey.” He smiled. “Your friends will not find us. I’ve made sure of it.”

She had no idea where she was, or where they were going, but she prayed Bram and the Sentinel Security team did.

He’d find her. She knew he would.

She had to hold on to that.

Kozlov suddenly pressed a hand over her stomach, and she tried to jerk away. But he grabbed her.

“I can’t wait to see you round withmychild.” An eager look filled his eyes.

Addie tasted bile in her throat. “Where are we going?”

“Far away. Close to my friends.”

Her heart thumped.

“Get in the plane, Adaline, or I’ll carry you aboard.”

She steeled her spine, holding one hand protectively over hers and Bram’s babies.

I’ll protect you.

We just need to wait for daddy to find us.

The room had been convertedinto a makeshift command center.

Hex had rented them rooms at a small motel near Hickory Ridge, then set up several laptops. She was hunched over one, absorbed in her searches. Her hands never stopped moving, data filling the screens.

There was no sign of Kozlov or Addie.

The bastard had disappeared like a ghost with Addie.

Addie. Bram squeezed his hands into fists. Pain was an aching throb inside him, tangled with rage and guilt.

He drew in a sharp breath. He didn’t have the luxury of brooding. He had to find Addie.

Killian was on the phone, barking questions at someone. Devyn was on her own laptop, her brow creased. Matteo and Nick were out questioning people in case anyone had seen Kozlov.

Shade leaned against the wall, peering over Hex’s shoulder.

“Got anything yet?” Shade asked.

“Step back.” Hex elbowed the spy in the gut.

Shade just grinned at her.

“Go and be useful,” Hex snapped. “Or do your skills only involve standing around looking hot while everyone else does the work?”

Shade’s smile widened. “You think I’m hot?”

Hex rolled her bi-colored eyes and looked back at her screen.

“Hex, update?” Killian asked.

She tossed Shade a withering look before looking at her boss. “After being released after Mikhailov went down, Kozlov disappeared. Totally off grid. He was gone for a couple of months before he popped up in New York, and rented the apartment and storage space.”
