She slides to her belly. In the final moments, Ihammermy woman into the bed, the mattress whining as I push into her over and over, and then… There’s nothing but the sensation at the very end of my cock. My seed unleashes. I can’t make any noise, just hollow gasps as I let it all go.

Collapsing atop her, I kiss her neck, then her cheek, my cock wilting inside her. After, I take her in my arms, the room smelling of our release. It’s a scent I savor, even if others might find it gross. There’s something animalistic about it, as though her body is telling me she’s greedily hoarding my seed, giving us the best shot for a kid.

“I can’t believe I was ever nervous about that,” she whispers, kissing my cheek softly.

I look down at her, wishing I could smile, wishing this moment was uncorrupted by what we must do.

“You never have to be nervous with me. We belong together.”

CHAPTER23

Zoey

Okay, that went off-script.

As Jax and I sit in the living room, I wonder if I still smell of sex. I had a shower after. It felt wrong, somehow, washing what we did from me.

Jax sits across the table, steam rising from his mug of black coffee. Each time we look at each other, I feel my body trying to take control and guide him back upstairs. Now it’s over, and the thoughts return. I could’ve just had sex with a man who’s slept with my mom. The notion sickens me.

Are you coming home soon?I text Mom.

I’ll be roughly thirty minutes.

Jax is here.

Like I said, I won’t be long.

“She’ll be here soon,” I murmur.

Jax sighs, nodding. He’s got new intensity now we’ve had sex as if he’s thinking the same thing as me. When can we do that again? How many times?

There were moments of discomfort initially, but then something magical happened. Pleasure took control of everything. We had sex for about twenty minutes, but I only knew that after checking the time. It felt like it could’ve been a few too-short seconds or an entire lifetime as we rocked together and indulged in each other.

“I just hope she doesn’t tell us to stop,” I murmur.

“Me too,” Jax says.

“Well, that’s reassuring.”

He sighs. “I wish I could tell you it will all work out. I wish I could tell you she’ll understand. I can’t make any promises, but listen…”

We purposefully sat on opposite sides of the coffee table to keep our distance from each other. When he walks around the table and pulls me into his arms, it feels so right, the place I belong.

“Whatever happens, we’re going to make this work.”

“How can you say that?”

He kisses my cheek. There’s love in the kiss, more than affection.

“Because it has to.”

“Hey, leave me alone!”

I leap out of my chair when I hear Mom’s raised voice from outside. Jax is on his feet a second later, rushing to the door. We head outside to find Mom standing in the front yard, Axel reaching toward her. He’s shaved his head since I last saw him, giving him a tougher look. Two men lurk a few feet back, as big and tough-looking as Axel.

They seem sober, standing with rigid postures, their faces difficult to read. One’s wearing a leather jacket with slicked-back hair, and the other is wearing a vest, despite the cool evening, showing off arms covered in tattoos that look like he did them himself.
