The thong was green like the skunk stripe on the right side of her black wig that was cut into a chin-length bob. The left side was dyed purple. It suited her high cheekbones, sharp eyes, and diamond-shaped face.

At some point, I decided what the hell and burrowed deeper under the warm covers, my nipples turning hard when they brushed against the soft cotton sheets.

Oh…no.

I shot up into a sitting position and clutched the sheet to my chest when I realized my clothes were gone, and I was even more naked than she was.

“Where are my—Did we—Um…did we, uhh…” I pressed my forehead into my palm when I couldn’t even finish the sentence.

“Last night?” Ruen gleefully finished while twisting to face me. “Oh, yeah, you were an amazing fuck. Best I ever had.”

Now I knew that couldn’t be true.

I’d only had one sexual partner, and Sutton, my ex, had been a dick in every sense of the word. I’d like to think sex with another girl would be easier than pleasing a man since I’d had unrestricted access to the equipment all my life, but it still took me a while to learn my own rhythm, so…unlikely.

“Sure.”

It was all I could think to say before she lost her composure and started laughing at my expense. I narrowed my gaze at her and just barely kept my hands from balling into fists. Her keen gaze seemed to catch on that I wasn’t amused, and her lips quirked in a challenge.

“Chill, Twinks. I like pussy—love it, actually—but sobbing hysterically while sloppy drunk doesn’t do it for me, you know?”

No. No, I don’t know.

Wait, what? “I was crying?”

“Yeah.” I caught Ruen’s wince just before she gave me her back. Her tone was uncharacteristically somber and not at all cocky and teasing as she said, “You told me your father died. I’m sorry for your loss.”

Oh, no.

What else had I said?

Had I mentioned the Kings?

Did I tell her about the letter and why I was here?

“Thanks,” I forced out. “Um…did I…did I say anything else?”

“Nope.” She peeked at me over her shoulder. “You should know we fooled around a bit, though. Above the clothes stuff, nothing heavy. Apparently, you turn into a raging lesbian when you’re drunk, but don’t worry. I realized you were boringly hetero before it got too far. I tucked you into bed, and you’ve been snoring like a grown man ever since.”

I waited for Ruen to tell me she was joking again, but she was silent as she peeled off her wig and tossed it aside. Her brown hair was braided to her scalp in six neat rows and covered by a wig cap that she removed too.

That must have been how I ended up naked.

“I assume we met at the party?” I croaked as I searched the room for my clothes and phone.

Ruen turned from the mirror with a dip in her brows. “Yeah…how much did you drink last night?”

“Too much.” I groaned again. The only thing I remembered was how much I needed to forget. I slowly stood from the bed, keeping the black sheet wrapped around me. I wasn’t as comfortable with my nakedness around strangers as Ruen, who still hadn’t bothered to put on clothes.

Her room was amess.

There were clothes, shoes, makeup, half-emptyandempty liquor bottles, records, manga, and video games everywhere. There was also an expensive-looking turntable in the corner next to purple over-the-ear headphones and a microphone. “You’re a deejay,” I reminisced out loud. “You were the deejay at the party.”

“You catch on quick.”

I rolled my eyes. “How did we—when did we…?”

Ruen caught on to the question I couldn’t seem to ask and shrugged before turning back to the mirror. “You asked to come home with me, and since you’re sexy as fuck, I obliged. Technically, we never left the party since I’m the one who hosted it.”
