I rushed out of the room, bottomless and barefoot, determined to find my man and drive all night if I had to.

But I didn’t have to.

Because he’d been right here all along, downstairs, in the den, nursing a glass of whisky with his head bent, arms braced on his thighs, and his heart at his feet. He was now wearing sweatpants that he must have gotten from the basket of clean clothes I’d left in laundry room.

“Owen…”

“You good now?” he asked without facing me.

“No.” I rushed around the couch and threw myself onto my knees before him—where I belonged and wanted to be. “I don’t want her, Owen. I want you.”

Rowdy gave a dry laugh and took a sip of his drink. “It didn’t sound like it. Ya’ll sounded lit as fuck up there.” He eyed me over his glass. “I thought you only screamed like that for me.”

My lip trembled as I gave a fervent shake of my head. “It was a mistake, Owen. I love you.”

The Molly had me slurring a little, and I couldn’t keep still. I was still horny since I hadn’t come, so I ducked my head, trying to hide it.

Rowdy gripped my chin and lifted my head. He then planted a kiss on my lips, but when I surged up for more, he dodged me. “Don’t trip, pretty baby. I’m not mad.”

“Then why won’t you let me kiss you? You’re lying. I don’t believe you.” I balled my hands into fists. “Why did you bring her here? To test me?”

“Because you needed it.”

“I neededyou. I was ready to throw it all awayfor you. It’s not just the sex, Owen. I feel like this gray space we’re in isn’t keeping us together. It’s pulling usapart. I just wanted to know that you still loved me no matter what.”

Footsteps on the stairs saved him from responding. Ruen appeared, fully dressed again and typing rapidly on her phone as she made a beeline for the door. “It’s been fun, love birds.” She didn’t look at either of us.

“Aye, where the fuck you think you going?” Rowdy barked as he scowled over his shoulder at her. “You ain’t done.”

I sighed. “Just let her go, Owen. I’m okay now. Really.” And I was sure Ruen was already feeling some kind of way—had probably been texting another hook-up to take the edge off.

Rowdy ignored me. Ruen ignored me.Fucking assholes.

Ruen paused, and I could see the wheels turning before she pocketed her phone and sauntered into the den with a smirk while Rowdy tugged me into his lap. His warmth enveloped me like a blanket, and I never wanted to leave.

“Did she eat your pussy?” he questioned. I nodded. “Did you come?”

I shook my head. “I stopped it,” I whispered.

“Why?”

“Because I didn’t want to hurt you.”

Rowdy kissed my cheek while rubbing my arms. “There was no need. I trust you like a motherfucker, Dream. I wouldn’t have invited her over if I didn’t.”

I chewed on my lip as Ruen sat on the coffee table. I could see it in her dilated pupils. She was still hot and bothered.

I felt the moment Rowdy’s focus shifted to her. “Take all that shit off,” he ordered gruffly. “My girl wants to see you.”

Ruen’s gaze didn’t so much as flicker to him as she shed her leather jacket. She then stood and tossed it aside on the recliner nearby before kicking off her shoes. Her shirt followed, and I realized she wasn’t wearing a bra when her small breasts and pierced nipples came into view. She pulled down her leggings without an ounce of shyness until she was fully naked.

Beneath me, I could feel the effect she was having on Rowdy. I released a shocked gasp as I peeked at him over my shoulder. “You’re hard,” I teased as I wiggled my butt. “Like what you see?”

He sucked his teeth. “She’s aight.”

I smiled softly and patted his cheek. “Good boy.”

“Chill.” To Ruen, he said, “On your knees.”
