Um…

“What’s going on, Ruen? Why are you really here?”

“Rowdy asked me to come.”

“He asked you?”

“Yup.” Ruen plopped down on the foot of the bed and patted the spot next to her. My heart was pounding so hard that it echoed in my ears as I obeyed. She studied my face for a while and then said, “You’ve been crying.”

I sniffled. “I do that a lot lately.”

Ruen gave me a weird look. “You’re not pregnant, are you?”

“God no.”

Ruen nodded and grabbed her jacket from where she’d tossed it at the end of the bed and reached inside the pocket for a little baggie containing two rolled blunts and an assortment of pills in different colors, shapes, and sizes. “Want to tell me why?”

“Not really.” I couldn’t relive that shame twice.

“Suit yourself,” she said easily. For once, I was glad that Ruen was an asshole. She didn’t push. She probably didn’t even really care. “Do you smoke?”

“Not really. Rowdy lets me sometimes but only with him and blunts that he rolled himself.”

Ruen nodded, and even though I could see the sarcastic reply in her eyes, she kept it to herself as she removed two of the pills. I was startled when she placed them on her tongue since I was under the impression she only sold drugs. “Do you have music?”

“Sure,” I said slowly. I stood and pretended not to feel Ruen’s eyes on me as I went to grab my phone. “My Little Secret” by Xscape began to play while I quickly checked my messages to see if Rowdy had responded yet.

Nothing.

I sighed and returned to Ruen. “So—”

I wasn’t prepared for her kiss the moment my ass hit the mattress. I gasped, and Ruen was ready for it. She slipped her tongue inside my mouth, and I felt one of the tiny tabs on my tongue for a split second before I swallowed it down.

“Ruen!” I broke the kiss and lunged away from her. My eyes bucked as I touched my throat as if it would stop the pill she’d slipped me from working its way into my system. “What the hell? What was that?”

“Molly.”

I shook my head at her. “I should fuck you up.”

Ruen gave me a small smile. “You can try.” She leaned back on her elbows and my gaze was drawn to her taut stomach bared despite the cool weather. “Or you can fuck me instead.”

“Look, you need to go.”

She stood, and I backed away when she stalked me across the room instead of leaving like I asked. My back hit the dresser, making Rowdy’s and my shit roll and rattle around on the surface.

“Ruen, for real,” I demanded when she stood in front of me. “I already told you I’m not—”

She kissed me again, and I was trapped with nowhere to go this time. I was vaguely aware of her reaching up and removing my head scarf and then pulling the hair clips free, one by one, until my natural curls wildly framed my face and shoulders again.

“You told me what?” she teased between kisses.

“I don’t like girls, and I’m not a cheater.”

“You like me, though.”

“As afriend.”

“Then why are you kissing me back?”
