“Oh my God, how long did I sleep?” Okay, make that slept through the nightandmost of the day.

A loud beep carries up the stairwell. Austin must be in the kitchen. The man couldn’t cook anything outside a cup of coffee when he was my bodyguard and from the sound of it, still can’t. It seems three years hasn’t done anything to improve that certain situation.

I shower and find a set of clean clothes on the edge of the bed with a note.

Mercy dropped off more fresh clothes. – B

Ifinger through the garments and find a black two-piece tucked between a pair of shorts and a pink tank top with the words queen in a pretty black font across the boobs.

I smile. Austin will love this.

I see a second part of the note. This from Landry. I would recognize his masculine slant any day of the week.

Meet us downstairs when you are ready. Happy Birthday,

Love L

And A of course!

Austin’s flashy scrawl with a flourished tip to his letters ends the note.

I roll my eyes, laughing.

I dress quickly, tying my hair back in a quick ponytail before wrapping it up in a messy bun.

I don’t mess with makeup or perfume given I don’t have any on hand. I take a final look in the mirror. “I guess this will just have to do.”

I spot Austin first as I come down the stairs that lead into the kitchen. He has his back to me, his shirt off. All that tanned muscle in the evening sunlight is heart-stopping. It’d be wrong of me not to appreciate so I take a moment.

Boone slides up beside me and turns my chin around to plant a big kiss on my lips. I’d been so engrossed in my appraisal of one man, I didn’t hear the other approach until it was too late.

Would every morning be like this? I still find it hard to believe I can have this; I can have them in my life. But a heaviness settles over my heart. Having them means I have to choose. My father or them. The love of the man who raised me, or the men who love me. They haven’t said the words yet, but they don’t have to. Their actions are their words. They dropped everything for me and have worked overtime to make sure I’m content. That can’t go unnoticed.

“Evening, beautiful,” he whispers in my ear. “Happy birthday.”

“Evening yourself,” I’m on my toes with my hands on his chest about to kiss Boone when Austin turns, grabs me up soapy hands and all, and spins me around the kitchen.

It’s all I can do to hold on I’m laughing so hard.

“You didn’t think we forgot, did you? The big two-four. You don’t look a day older than twenty, I swear it. Maybe if you’re good you’ll get your birthday present a little early.”

Between us his shaft is hard and ready to deliver on his promise.

“Oh? I think I’m ready to unwrap my presents. Where to start…”

Before I can explore my options, Boone is behind me and slipping his hand into mine. “First, food for the queen.” He looks pointedly at my shirt with a smirk.

Austin slaps my ass and winks. “Go on, we worked you hard last night and tonight we have something special lined up for you.”

I’m expecting Boone to lead me to the table but he turns me toward the living room instead.

As soon as I walk out from behind Boone, I gasp in shock at what I see.

Landry is standing by a large blanket big enough to fit all four of us. It’s from one side to the other with all kinds of foods that have my stomach grumbling. My eyes touch on everything. Especially the centerpiece—a chocolate birthday cake with tall white candles.

“You did this for me?” I ask, astonished.

Landry takes my hand in his larger one and pulls me into him. “Happy birthday, baby.”
