Sanchez stands with his back to me, staring at the door in front of us. His figure is quite small and stocky. I’m much thinner than he is, but he must be about my height. His dark, medium-length hair stops at his shoulders. He mumbles into his beard as he tries to open the door. I stop myself from rolling my eyes.

“It’s locked, no need to force it.”

“You’re welcome,” he announces, still with his back to me, referring to my broken ties.

I glance around, massaging my wrists. This place looks abandoned. “Thank you,” I finally grumble.

There’s nothing in the room except for some old, worn pieces of metal I can make out in the darkness and a skylight in the ceiling. It’s too high to reach, even if we do a leg up.

Sanchez is still trying to break through the huge metal door, rusted in places. I hold back a mocking smile at this ridiculous sight.

“I don’t think your little figure will be able to break through the door,” I announce innocently.

He finally turns to me, making his hair fly as he does it. His dark look makes me swallow my smile. I frown. As he squints, I search my memory, but nothing comes to me. “Maybe you have a better idea?” he asks me.

The faint glow of the moon catches the piercing on his right arch. His face is closed, but I have to admit he’s pretty cute. Okay, maybe even a little sexy.

I drop to the floor and stifle a yawn. “Nope,” I sigh and cross my legs. “I suggest we just sit here and wait for these assholes to come and get us.” I admit that part of me wants to fight but the other is too angry to play along.

Sanchez opens his mouth, stunned, but nothing comes out. Then he suddenly exclaims, “You think we’re going to win sitting here like idiots?Es estúpido! You shouldn’t have come if you were afraid to put in the effort.”

I point my index finger in his direction as I stand up. “Listen to me, I’m stuck in this stupid thing with a stupid person after being kidnapped AGAINST my will! So, believe me, this is no time to mess with me.”

“What do you mean ‘against your will?’ You mean you didn’t want to be here?”

I roll my eyes. “Usually, when you’re taken to a place by force, you don’t want to, no.”

“Why didn’t you have a bag over your head?” he then asks me, stopping his movements.

“They didn’t have any more in stock,” I proclaim in a falsely unhappy voice.

He still doesn’t move and insists, disconcerted, “Why didn’t Tucker put a bag over your head?”

What the hell is wrong with him with his damn questions? I suddenly turn to him and notice that he is staring at me. I can see an ounce of excitement in his eyes. He’s happy to be locked up here because he wants to win. Of course, he has accepted his role as a cub.

“Seriously,” I say, “help me find a way out of here instead of asking me your questions.”

“I thought you wanted to sit and wait for them.”

I glare at him for an answer. Finally, at the far end of the room, I see another door, which seems worn. Much smaller, less massive.

“There!” I exclaim, heading toward it only to find that it’s also locked.

“Knock it down,” I tell Sanchez. “It seems less solid than the other one, maybe we have a chance?”

“I thought my little body couldn’t do it?”

I ignore his words and knock on the door, which gives almost no result. I thrust my foot through it and yell, “Tucker, I’m going to kill you! Did you hear that?!”

I must look hysterical because Sanchez continues to stare at me strangely. I raise my eyebrows, silently warning him not to mess with me. He runs his tongue over his lips, and I see a piercing on it.

“Let me do it,” he finally tells me.

With my arms crossed, I watch him try to break down the door. At the first knocks, it only shakes. It is only after several other attempts that the old worn door finally gives way.

But what I discover does not please me.

It is not the exit on the other side, but another part of the abandoned warehouse.
