Girlfriend. Girlfriend. Is that what I am?

The next minute will be decisive. We haven’t used those words with each other. Yet they are on my lips. I don’t want to think about the future, but I don’t want to push it away either. I turn to Tucker, looking for answers in his eyes. And what I find there reassures me. He wants me to admit my jealousy, to take the first step this time, me being so closed off.

This first step that will totally change the course of things.

I inhale deeply and whisper, “Yeah, I acted like a jealous girlfriend.”

Surprise paints itself on his features before disappearing. I said it. Is he going to push me off, remind me that our relationship is only sexual, or is he going to follow me in this crazy adventure?

“I like it,” he murmurs, confirming my second hypothesis. “But I think it’s my turn, right?”

The little smirk on his face doesn’t tell me anything.

“What do you mean, it’s your turn?”

His muscles tense a little more, and he shrugs a shoulder. “You know, to act like a boyfriend too.”

How can things get so much faster in such a short time? I feel like I have no control, like all my defenses are melting away. But I can’t help it, this little voice is getting stronger and stronger inside me, and it orders me to let him do it without thinking about the consequences of our actions.

His lips are delicately placed on mine to never let them go. His tongue caresses mine in a sensual dance while his left hand firmly grasps the back of my neck. My breath hits his mouth as I try to catch my breath. Tucker doesn’t let me rest, he presses himself to me a little more, his other hand squeezes my thigh, and I can only imagine the show we must be putting on for the other students.

“If you don’t stop, I swear the next thing you’ll be kissing is the door, Mr. Bomley.”

I flinch as I recognize Professor Richards’ voice. Tucker takes his time and licks his lower lip as he adjusts himself.

“I’m sorry, I just tripped,” he replies with an innocent look and raises his hands in the air.

Our teacher raises both eyebrows, arms crossed.

“You tripped over your classmate’s mouth?”

“Accidents happens so quickly…” Tucker sighs defeatedly.

I kick his ribs, glaring at him, but can’t help but smile. Professor Richards purses her lips, no doubt wondering if she should really be fighting a battle against a student with raging hormones. She finally seems to give up the fight and turns to the dais to begin class.

“Be more careful next time,” she finally says, “or I may send you out quite by…accident.”

Tucker can’t think of anything to say but still seems pleased with what has just happened between us. I continue to stare at his profile. Jealous girlfriend. Boyfriend. Did I just admit to Tucker that I felt more than sexual desire for him, and did he just do the same…?

Yes.

But what did I just get myself into?

Buck finishes pouring a draft beer, and I do the same on my end. It’s Tuesday night, and yet High Peaks Bar is packed. I already miss Agnes, but if I’m to believe the texts I’ve received from Emma, she’s constantly telling her about her vacation here.

I see movement to my left and hold back an expletive when I see that asshole Matt sitting at a table with his friends. The little smile he gives me makes me want to give him the finger, but I restrain myself and ignore him instead, not wanting to give him an ounce of importance.

As I grab a lemon wedge from the bin that’s lying on the bar and slip it between my lips, I notice Dan pull himself up onto a stool right in front of me. Now there’s a person I’d rather see here. If someone had told me a few weeks ago that I’d be happy to see a member of the Pack…

A tight-knit group, despite what some may think and what I myself thought, initially.

Dan seems as withdrawn as ever, running a hand over his shaved head with a blank stare. Since I’ve known him, he’s been like this. It’s as if an unhappiness was eating him up inside, destroying him little by little. This malaise is Debbie. I look at Matt, worried. If Debbie is in this state, it’s partly because of that asshole, and if Dan sees him…let’s just say I’m afraid that a brawl is coming.

A big one, in fact.

“Hi,” I begin, walking over to Dan to get his attention.
