“You broke my nose!” he screams. Blood drips onto the collar of his T-shirt.

I stand up and move my jaw from right to left. “I’ve been too nice to you all this time,” I say, walking towards him. I squat down in front of him and smile softly. “Look at you, consumed with hatred and jealousy. You never had the balls or honor to join our group. You’re trying to destroy me, but you just look like a loser. Next time I’ll be a lot less nice, dude.”

I straighten up and turn on my heels without worrying about him anymore. I feel him glare at me. Oh, yes, he hates me, but he’s also scared.

The door slams behind me. The guy who was on watch stares at me, his mouth wide open. I smile at him and at the few guys who were waiting to get in.

“The bathroom is free,” I say simply.

And I walk down the hallway, searching for a little redhead.

What’s with the crowd in the parking lot all of a sudden?

I’ve barely taken a few steps toward the crowd when Tucker’s voice slams into my back.

“Iris!”

With a can of Coke already at my lips, I turn in his direction. He walks toward me, a dark, intense gleam in his eyes. I almost expect him to jump on me. Would I be willing to push him away?

Sarah is sitting in the grass a little further away, glaring at me. A pretty blonde is talking to her, but she doesn’t care. She continues to stare at me, an enigmatic smile on her face, pulling from time to time on her cigarette.

May she choke on her smoke…

Tucker suddenly turns his attention back to the parking lot, and as I follow his gaze, I am speechless.

Two uniformed cops walk up to TJ, who was leaning against his car. I hardly have time to understand when they bend over him and handcuff him.

Someone jostles me as he runs past me. It’s Tucker running towards them. He yells something as panic shows on his cousin’s face. But the two cops don’t care. They pull TJ towards the entrance of the parking lot, towards their car.

What the hell happened?

I haven’t seen Tucker or TJ in class since Monday. They seem to have disappeared from school. On Tuesday night, I gave in and texted Tucker, but he didn’t respond to me.

This situation is driving me crazy. Why did cops come and arrest TJ? What did he do? His cheerfulness and good humor immediately made me believe that he wasn’t a guy looking for trouble, but maybe I was wrong.

Yeleen didn’t respond to my text either. Okay, I should probably mind my own business, but I’m worried. I think I really like TJ, so I need to know what’s going on. We’re in the same pack, after all…

And even though the idea seemed totally crazy at first, I’m slowly getting used to it.

Tucker looked as distraught as I felt as he rushed up to the cops, and worried, too, so I don’t think he knows what his cousin might have done. Why doesn’t he answer me, that idiot? Doesn’t he realize that I’m worried sick about him?

I hate to admit it, but I feel a twinge of sadness at their silence.

I chew on the end of my pen, not being able to concentrate on the lectures I’m rereading. I look around and notice that the rows are silent. A student looks at me with a look of disgust when she sees what I am chewing on. Good for her.

I’m about to reread the same sentence for the umpteenth time when, through the library windows, I see Yeleen walking briskly. I immediately grab my things, and my psychology book falls to the floor with a thud.

“Shh,” mumbles a small blonde with glasses sitting a foot away from me.

I grab my book and shove it carelessly in my bag. “You’re making more noise than I am by saying that,” I sigh.
