“Okay, what? I saw that look.”

“It’s just that clubs are extremely insecure places. There are lots of opportunities to be attacked without your attacker ever risking themselves. However, no one knows you are here and there is no evidence of any threat to your life, so I don’t see why you shouldn’t be allowed to go clubbing. I’ll just have to keep a close watch for any potential trouble.”

Good, at least they were on the same page. “Then let’s go out.”

“Don’t you want to unpack your things?”

“Alice can unpack for me. I want to stop by the mall anyway to see what American fashion is like in person; I’ve only seen it online. I can pick up something to wear at the club there—and something for you as well.”

JK looked down at her practical brown pants and her short-sleeved button-up blouse. “What’s wrong with this?”

Tabitha rolled her eyes. “That outfit screamsworking professional—which is great when meeting a new client for the first time, but not as much when you’re out clubbing. Don’t worry, we’ll find something for you.”

“I suppose,” JK conceded.

Tabitha made sure Alice was okay to carry the bags before leading the way to the car. The driver they had hired for her time here was waiting for them.

“To the nearest mall, please.”

“Of course, Princess.”

“Please, call me Tab. I’m supposed to be flying under the radar.”

“Yes, Princess.”

Tabitha rolled her eyes again and turned to JK. “You’re going to use my first name, right?”

“Absolutely. Your best safety is in anonymity. I’m not going to draw attention to who you are and potentially draw trouble in around us.”

“Good.” No one would hear Jack the driver calling her Princess from inside the car, but if JK started using that word when they were out and about, it wouldn’t take long for people to put two and two together.

Tabitha pulled her dark glasses down over her face and messed her hair up a bit more just to be sure. She liked this short hairstyle. It was so easy and felt so free, rather than her usual long immaculate blonde curls that had her spending hours in her hairdressers chair every few days.

They got to the mall and Tabitha stepped inside, taking a deep breath, relishing the freedom. Her heart was beating fast. There were people everywhere, but nobody was looking at her. Nobody was noticing her. Maybe she was anonymous for once. Here, she could browse shops to her heart’s content without having to fear being accosted by reporters.

“Let’s go this way!”

She headed to a sparkling store that had some designer dresses in the front window. Tabitha soon had a full cart of things to try on. She turned to JK. “Go on, pick something to wear. My treat.”

“I’m really okay with what I’m wearing.”

“They’re not going to let you into the club like that. Live a little, JK, come on,” she pleaded, giving her best puppy eyes, that she hoped even with the new contact lenses would have the desired effect.

JK’s tough face softened and her brown eyes warmed to Tabitha and Tabitha felt a flood of desire run through her body.

“I suppose I do need to be admitted into the club with you,” JK conceded. “I don’t really know what counts as suitable club attire, though. Perhaps you could advise me?”

Tabitha got to choose what to dress JK in? Even better. “Of course! How about this?”

Tabitha pulled out a short, tight, red dress that would have looked spectacular on JK’s athletic body but clearly would not be her style. JK gave it a doubtful look.

“I can’t wear a dress! Look at me! I’m a masculine lesbian.”

Tabitha felt thrills run through her when the wordlesbianemerged from JK’s lips.Lesbian.

Of course she is.

So am I.
