Maddie

The nurses at the hospital are being lovely. They have been out to the waiting room several times to deliver updates. I think of the sacrifice Vi made to keep me safe. I relive that moment in my mind over and over again.

I open the panic room and aim the gun at Jefferson. “Get away from her,” I scream.

“Ahh, my Maddie, my little slut,” Jefferson utters. “Are you worried about your whore friend? Don’t worry, I’ll get rid of the demon inside of her, then I will take care of you.” His slithering voice makes me want to vomit. He kicks at Vi again and again. I pull the trigger and see him stumble back. He comes at me viciously and I pull the trigger twice more. He hits the ground and I run to Vi.

“I’m so sorry, VI. I should have come out sooner. I am so sorry,” I cry. I hold her close and she tells me that I saved her. She’s wrong, she saved me. Vi was selfless and thought of me first. She knew I was scared and even though Jefferson was beating her, she refused to give him any information. I couldn’t let her do that. I love her like a sister. I was not going to let Jefferson take her or anyone else I love from me.

War has been holding me all night. Even as we wait in the hospital, he won’t let me off his lap. He keeps checking to see if I am alright. Throughout the police questioning, he stood by my side. He made me shower before heading to the hospital. I just wanted to go but he told me that it would frighten Vi to see me like that.

Orion piled into the ambulance with Vi. Guard and the brothers followed. Risk delivered all the evidence that Orion had compiled to Jefferson’s plan. Demon had picked up Ava and the other old ladies and brought them to the hospital. The waiting room is filled with the Satan’s Pride club members and their families.

When I heard the shots, I broke through the door. When I saw the blood all over her, I was terrified that Jefferson had gotten to her. I was shocked to see the hurt the Vi endured to protect Maddie. I don’t know how I can ever repay her.

Orion has lost his mind. Guard was the only one to get through to him. He wouldn’t let the EMT’s near her, they were about to call security at the hospital when they asked him to leave the room so that they could assess the damage and get her stable. Guard was able to talk him down. Moved him into the waiting room where Ava worked her magic and stayed close to him until he was calm. Eventually, Risk was able to get him to a bathroom to wash up and get the stains of Vi’s blood off his hands.

Maddie went over to him and told him how brave and loyal she was. She held his hand and leaned into his shoulder on one side as Ava did the same on the other side.

The police have all they need, and nothing will happen to Maddie. I called Paul and he is on his way home and should be back by tomorrow night. He was distraught as well but once he heard that Maddie was fine, he relaxed somewhat, still insisting on coming home.

“Anyone here for Vivianna Roslan?” A doctor walks into the room and surveys the room. Orion stands tall and takes two steps forward.

“Right here,” he says roughly.

“You’re her husband?” he asks.

“I’m her partner. We live together,” he replies. It wasn’t exactly a lie. They were together and had been for over two years. They didn’t live together though.

“Want to come along with me?” the doctor asks.

“You can tell me here. These are our friends,” Orion states.

“Okay,” he sighs, “Vivianna has three broken ribs and a punctured lung. Fractured wrist and severe concussion. She has been stabilized and is in critical care until we see how the lung reacts. With any luck she will be moved to a regular room tomorrow. Miss Roslan has declared that she is leaving latest on Saturday. I think this is doable if she follows instructions. She is heavily sedated but has asked for Orion. I assume that is you?”

“Yeah, take me to her,” Orion mutters.

“Be aware that she has tubes and is very swollen; it looks worse than it is. She may also be asleep by the time you see her,” the doctor adds. “Follow me.”

I know Orion, this is killing him. I hope this shit wakes him up. He has maintained his distance from any woman, even Vi. This has got to have shaken him to the core.

A few hours later, we leave the hospital. Orion is staying the night, Cris is in the waiting room to get what he needs when he needs it. Tomorrow we switch it up.

Maddie comes out of our bathroom. Sits on the edge of the bed, facing away from me. I call her to me.

“Kitten come here.”

She tumbles into bed and crawls over to me. I immediately take her into me arms. “Maddie we’ve talked about everything that happened and you still seem distant. What’s going on?”

“I’m alright.”

“No, Maddie, let’s get this out.” I tilt her head so that we are looking into each other’s eyes.

“Never again does anyone hurt me or my family,” she says.
