End of that discussion, thank fuck!

I can’t get myself out of there fast enough and at this point its past noon. I call in for the pizza to be delivered to Maddie’s and say my farewells. The idea of a stalker continuing to pursue Maddie is really bugging me and I asked Orion to investigate further if there is any truth to the rumor. I will talk to Maddie about it, but I don’t want to spook her into thinking that she’s in jeopardy. She retreats into herself enough as it is, and I am trying to get her to come out and live life again.

I unlock the front door with the extra key Maddie mentioned on my way out, to find Cris is parked on the sofa with a can of soda in his hand, watching Maddie on the other side of the room strumming her guitar. She is a sight to see. Her lips press together humming a melody and plucking at the strings with her eyes shut as she sways back and forth to the tempo. She stops to make notes on the music sheet on the side table. I stay quiet admiring the sight myself. Cris notices that I’ve returned and gets up to come over. Maddie is still oblivious to the both of us.

“She’s been doing that since you left.” Cris states as he drops the can on the counter.

“Yeah?”

“Totally zoned out right after she picked up the guitar. Like she isn’t even in this world.” Cris shakes his head.

We both turn as she starts to strum again adding lyrics that pull me deep into her.

My world started when you found me

You show me light

Together we take flight

Don’t walk away and turn my light dark

Then she continued to hum once again.

“Fuck.” Cris whispered beside me. “She’s like a magnet. Sucks you right in.”

“I know brother. I am living it,” I admit. I look at Cris and continue, “Guard will fill you in when you get back. We are heading to my place later this afternoon. I called Molly in town to have groceries delivered to the house, can you meet her at three o’clock?”

Without a pause, “Yeah, sure. Whatever you need.” He turns to the door, “I’m heading back. Good luck, man. I have a feeling you have your work cut out for you.”

“Right,” I say in a low voice.

Once the door closes, I walk over to my girl. “Hey, Baby, I’m back.” I’m rewarded with a bright smile.

“Where’s my pizza?” she asks with a glint in her eye.

“Where’s my hello kiss?” I retorted.

She puts down the guitar on the floor next to her and makes her way to me. She stands on her toes and kisses me lightly on the lips. “Now where is my pizza?” she teases.

“Pizza kisses are with tongue,” I taunt.

“Oh, let me try again.” She moves back to her toes and sinks one hand into my hair and the other on my shoulder to steady herself. Then I feel the heat of her mouth and glide her tongue into mine. I instantly band my arms around her waist and pull her so that our bodies at touching from chest to thighs. I plunder her mouth like a starving man who hasn’t had a meal in weeks. I lick, nibble and duel with her tongue. I don’t want to break our connection and I know that Maddie is trying to get closer when her fingers tighten in my hair. I can feel her nipples straining against my t-chest; even through our clothes I can feel her heat.

The doorbell pulls us both out of our cloud. “Pizza’s here,” I tell her.

She giggles. It’s the sweetest sound I have ever heard. I untangle myself from her arms, kissing her lightly on the forehead before heading to the door to get our pizza.

We eat and wait for Paul to arrive. The sooner we have this conversation, the sooner I can get her on my bike to head home. It’s nice to see Maddie relax. She chats and nibbles her food. I ask her about her folks and how she got into music. She shares freely and talks about her brother defending her from their parents and their views.

Paul arrives with the rest of his band in tow.

“Hey little Diva.” Paul chimes as he walks in, kissing his sister’s cheek.

“Hi Paul.” She kisses her brother back then turns to the rest of them. “Hi, guys.”

“You okay Maddie?” Paul says, sounding concerned as he wrapped his arm around his sister.

I notice Darrin, Troy, Alex, Brianna and Michelle all hang back making themselves comfortable on the kitchen stools and counters. They seem a little intimidated to join me in the living area. However, Troy does ask, “Maddie you sure everything is okay? If you need us just say so. We all have your back.”
