“Never.” I kiss his throat. “We were meant to find each other.

“Yes.” He pulls me close.

We finish bathing and drying ourselves—and the bathroom—before he helps me finish packing.

Nina calls to say she’ll spend the night with her parents, and see me off in the morning.

Oliver calls Noah and tells him to head back to Scrim Hall, and that we’ll see him tomorrow.

We settle into my bed. “Do you think your brothers will mind me moving into the mansion? Should we find our own home?”

“Home?”

“Yes, home, Oliver. Wherever you are, that’s my home.”

A single tear rolls down his cheek and he picks up the boxes. “They won’t mind, but we can live wherever you want if it means you are with me.”

“I’m with you.” My chest aches with this crazy love that isn’t like anything I believed love could be. Something this strong can’t fail like my parents’ marriage. Even if it fades, I can’t resist this man, my monster.

“Why has your expression turned sad?” He brushes my hair behind my ear.

I love this little show of care and affection. “I was thinking about my mom and dad and how they probably thought their love would last forever too.”

“Sweetheart, I’ll never not want you. You’re my mate. Nothing can change that or sever our connection.” His eyes are full of adoration.

“I’ll die one day and what will happen to you then?” It’s stupid, and far away, but it worries me.

Sorrow shades his eyes. “I don’t know. I’m not immortal as far as I know. I could die under certain circumstances.”

“But it’s likely you’ll still look like this when I’m ninety years old.” I actually like the idea of him never changing. He’s so beautiful.

He shrugs. “Maybe.”

“What about children?” It’s so strange that this matters to me since I never wanted them before, but suddenly, I want a houseful.

“What about them?” He kisses my cheek.

“Can vampires have children or do you only make more vampires like the old books say?” Maybe I should have asked this when we first met.

“I have never sired another vampire as it requires nearly killing someone. I don’t kill people.”

“I know that.”

“Do you?” He kisses my ear.

Pushing back so I can look him in the eyes, I say, “I know you don’t kill people. I never thought you would. I just want to know our future, whatever that is.”

His smile is everything. “I think children, in the traditional sense, are possible. I would love to have a child.” He pulls me against his chest.

I relax into him. “Will our child be a vampire?”

“It’s a recessive gene, but it’s possible.” He holds me tighter. “Do you think you would be happy as a mother to a monster?”

“You’re not a monster and our baby would be a blessing.” I wrap my arms around his middle and hope he can feel the truth of what I said.

“We’re going to be okay, my love.” He presses his lips to the top of my head.
