Page 7 of Nightmare's Flight

I blinked a few times, trying to get my lips to form words. “Relaxed.”

“Good.” He kissed my temple and held me while we soaked.

The quiet time together felt positively hedonistic, in a way that sex didn’t. I wondered if Nic normally enjoyed soaking in baths and filed the question away to ask later.

On the verge of sleep, my thoughts took a turn back to where they’d been headed before Nic had treated me to the extraordinarily relaxing bath. It was enough to wake me up.

“I think it’s your turn.” I turned, kneeling between Nic’s legs and putting my hands on his chest.

“Oh, I get a turn?” he teased.

I grabbed the bar of soap, but it had changed scent to something heavier, more suited to melding with Nic’s body chemistry. The aroma reminded me of dark shadows on a moonlit night after a fresh rain.

Washing someone at least partially made of shadows was entirely too entertaining. He attempted to remain solid, but I told him to relax and occasionally my hand and the soap simply disappeared into the blackness that swirled around my prince.

The important parts stayed solid. I didn’t make it to Nic’s hair, because I got distracted playing with his cock, bringing it to full hardness with firm, soapy caresses.

“Spark,” Nic said, voice thick with lust as he thrust gently into my hand.

“Yes, Nic?” I replied innocently, giving him another firm stroke.

“I would rather come inside you this time,” he managed.

Grinning at my shadow prince, I pulled my hand away from him.

“First, I need you to do something for me.” A serious edge drifted into his tone.

I frowned. “Oh, what’s that?”

I hadn’t noticed the tendrils of shadow he’d brought around us until they swirled up my body, sliding into me, tightening around me, binding me.

“Come for me, Ember,” he ordered.

The shadows that had entered me expanded to fill my channel completely, pulsing and rubbing in exactly the best ways. Another tendril of shadow circled my clit, and it didn’t take much of that before I shattered.

“Fuck me,” I gasped, hanging limply in the grasp of Nic’s shadows.

“I intend to.”

I whimpered as he withdrew the shadows, missing being filled. He pulled me toward him with his powers and lowered me until his cock touched my entrance. I squirmed, wanting more.

“Ready?”

“Yes, Nic. Please fuck me now.”

My shadow prince obliged, sliding me down on his cock swiftly then dissolving his shadowy tentacles and holding me with his hands instead. The bath water sloshed as he thrusted into me. I wrapped my legs around Nic, wanting to be as close as I possibly could be to him, and my own shadow powers rose to meet his, twining about him, tangling with threads of his own shadows. I could feel everything. It was as if my body had expanded, and the gentle caresses of our shadows heightened the pleasure I felt. Nic’s eyes shuttered closed and his mouth parted, showing he felt the same. Our bond also intensified the feelings until I almost couldn’t take it any longer. Just as I thought I might explode from the stimulation, I shattered, body clenching down on Nic, shadows tightening on him, and dragging his own release from him at the same time.

My head swam and static filled my ears. I couldn’t even get my body to respond, and I hung limply in his arms, enjoying the way the water cradled us, kept us warm and made our bodies slide along each other.

After a bit, Nic withdrew and washed me gently, before lifting me from the bath, drying me and carrying me to my bed. He curled up with me and, feeling well used, safe, and satisfied, I passed out.

Sometime later I woke, alone.

Grumbling, I flailed my way out of the giant bed and nearly tumbled off the edge, still foggy with sleep. Making myself slow down so I didn’t hurt something, I blinked a few times to clear the sleep from my eyes, then more carefully got out of bed. I didn’t need to fall and accidentally retrigger my fear of heights, as ridiculous as that would have been. Especially now that I had control over the shadows and could catch myself.

But then, emotions weren’t logical, and neither was my occasional fear of heights. It had started as a kid when I’d accidentally run off a cliff I hadn’t known was there when playing with the princes. Fortunately, Nic had caught me. They’d also done something to my memory, and I’d forgotten everything except the sensation of falling without hope of recovery. Despite my aerial career, I’d never quite gotten over that feeling. When not-Baz had tortured me by making the silks vanish then catching me at the last minute, it had brought that fear crashing back down onto me. Nic had even had to rescue me from the top of the silks, bringing me to the ground with his shadow powers.
