Page 39 of When Sinners Dare

There’s an older gentleman at the desk and I put on my best smile as he looks up from his screens.

“Evening. Do you have a suite available?” I ask.

“A suite, huh. Cash?” His brows rise up, and I know he’s thinking I’m only here for business.

“Would you rather my card? Black Amex good enough?” I stare him down. “And I’ll take the suite for two nights. Now, unless the next words from your mouth are, yes, Ma’am. I don’t want to hear them.”

Shock registers over his features, and he nods at me, “Yes, Ma’am.”

“Very good.” I slide the card over the glass countertop and wait for him to book the room. Kai joins me as the guy behind the reception desk gives me a key card, and I complete the check-in form.

“Enjoy your stay. Room 407.”

“Room service?” I ask.

“Available. There’s a limited menu in the room.”

“Great.” I take the card and grab Kai’s hand.

“Problem?” he asks.

“Not that I can’t handle. And I think you’ve done enough for tonight.” I waggle my eyebrows at him, trying to lighten the mood, but he’s brooding. A trait I recognise from my brothers.

We make it to the room and I’m pleasantly surprised. The door opens up into a decent-sized room that splits off to another set up for dining with a small table and comfortable sofa. The bed looks amazing – plump and piled high with pillows. The urge to fall into them and wake up and deal with everything tomorrow is tempting, but then I look back around at Kai. His brows are drawn down into a frown still.

“That’s some gut instinct you got. Who was that guy?” I ask.

His eyes meet mine and he’s across the room and standing in front of me in a second. “Shh.” He cups my face and kisses my lips softly, slowly.

“Hmm. Nice gear shift, and here I was thinking we weren’t doing this again.” I smile at him as I run my hand through his hair and dig my fingers in, holding him in position.

He grabs my thighs and lifts me, shoving me back against the wall. “Fuck that. You’ve been pushing for this since you showed up in the shop.” Hot lips slam against mine, and I feel all his urgency and desperation.

“There’s a bed this time, Kai,” I pant between his assault. “Use it.”

With ease, he carries me over and chucks me down before stripping the pillows to the floor. I untie my boots and shove them off, undoing my jacket in the next breath.

He pulls his shirt over his head and kneels on the bed.

My eyes are pulled to the patterns of ink over his chest and shoulders, but I also notice the red bloodied tear on his side.

“Eyes up here. You can look all you like after.”

He comes closer and pulls me towards him, tangling his hand in my hair. He stares at me, holding my gaze as I slip deeper into his green eyes. His free hand roams over my shirt and then tugs, wanting my clothes off, and we both race to get undressed until we’re naked.

He leans over me as his fingers trace my collarbone and around my breast before kissing me soundly. “Protection?”

“I’m good. You asked this time,” I pant, between kisses.

“Call me a gentleman.” But with that comment, he flips me over and straddles my legs.

His hands trace down my back and over my ass before he plants a kiss at the base of my spine and then sinks his teeth into my butt cheek. I seethe between my teeth, but he growls in response before licking up my spine. He’s taking his time and working me up, unlike the last time when we were all about the instant gratification.

I wiggle against him and arch my back, giving him an open invitation to speed things along. He pulls at my hips lifting me further and I feel the head of his cock swipe through my folds.

The move sends a riot of nerves buzzing through my body and sets a deep thrum of need burning through me. He takes his time, slowly pushing in, but I want more, so arch and press up with my arms to drive him all the way in.

“Jesus. Fuck! Mariana.” The deep, gravelly tone is sexy as hell, and I twist and flex my hips until he gets the message and pulls me tighter into him.
