“Because Judy Blue is my mother.”

I want him to laugh. I want him to explode, or yell, or…anything.

Anything except look at me with pure horror etched across his face.

Oh my God.

OH, MY FUCKING GOD.

His face crumples.

“Melody—”

I turn, I shove my way through the crowd of reporters, and I fuckingrun.

I run recklessly, barely able to see as the tears stream down my face and the sick begins to heave in my stomach. I somehow make it down the side alley next to the liquor store before I double over, spewing vomit and tears onto the pavement as my entire world turns to dust around me.

“Mel!!”

Bleary-eyed. Horrified. Sick to my very soul, I turn my throbbing head to the side as familiar arms wrap around me.

June.

I don’t know how she’s here. But I don’t care.

“What do you need!?” She yells, her face as stricken as mine as she helps me up.

“Mel! What do you—!”

“I need to get out of here.”

“I drove. C’mon.”

I see nothing. I feel nothing. Iamnothing as she drags me from the alley and into her waiting rental car. I collapse into the seat, lifeless, to the point where she has to put my seatbelt on for me. She climbs in next to me, and the car shifts into drive as a swarm of reporters rushes the car.

“Drive…please.”

The tires squeal as we pull away.

As the world fades away.

As everything I am and everything I know turns to acid dripping through my fingers.

Four months later, New York City:

“Happy Tuesday, everyone. That was the latest track from the Brooklyn band Aesop. I am Delphine, and you’re listening to 90.7 WFUV.

Well, if you’re a Velvet Guillotine fan, it’s been a wild last few months with the—I guess you could call it the rebirth of the man himself, Jackson Havoc. Four months ago, we saw the dramatic return to the spotlight of the Guillotine frontman following a bombshell article in Ignition Magazine revealing that Havoc was in fact alive, and living under an alias in coastal Maine

Even more explosive than the Ignition article though, was that Havoc’s return to the spotlight also came on the tails of an incendiary leak out of the upcoming book from one-time groupie and Playboy Playmate Judy Blue—a book in which she apparently alleges that Havoc is in fact the father of her daughter, Melody Blue.

In his one media appearance since his return, Havoc has refuted this claim. But, stoking controversy, abruptly walked away from further questions when rumors of his alleged romantic relationship with the younger Ms. Blue were brought to light.

Scandal aside—and really, what would a return by rock ’n roll’s baddest bad boy be without some controversy—it would seem that Havoc is back in the world of the living, and if rumors are to be believed, sober, as well. The Velvet frontman is also back in New York City, where he’s allegedly been secretly recording a new solo record.
