He removed the thong, went back between my thighs, and sucked on my clit making me spasm as I held his head. I softened all over, sated and happy.

“You taste so sweet after you come.” He took my head and kissed me deeply giving me a taste of my essence. “See? Now. I must go back to the meeting.”

“More relaxed,” I mused.

“Distracted by the taste of you.”

I stared at him in awe. He had me so completely.

He sighed heavily and held my gaze as he closed the door.

Maybe I have him too.

After changing into a T-shirt and pajama bottoms, I ate a bowl of soup, some fruit, and cheese while catching up on a fantasy show. After that, I used the plane’s phone to call Mom.

She answered on the fourth ring. “Hello, hello.”

“It’s Nadia.”

“Nadia! Honey, it’s Nadia. Oh, we saw the footage of your show from Xander. I can’t believe it! Our daughter’s famous.”

I laughed. “No, but it was like a fairy tale dream. I couldn’t believe how fast it went, especially since we worked for like a hundred hours on our designs. But you’re in Texas. How are you both doing?”

“We’ve been given a taste of celebrity life. I could fit our whole block on this ranch Mr. Crane’s people put us in. It’s so odd. I have a cook, a cleaner, and Ben’s my driver. Dad’s got a nurse waiting on him, hand and foot. It’s too much. I have nothing to do.”

“You can relax? When’s the last time you went on vacation?”

“Not since we went to Ontario, Canada. What was that…four years ago?”

I thought back to that vacation with a sad smile. Dad was sick, and we had to cut it short. Mom and I drove home and took dad to the hospital, where he stayed for a week to recover.

“It’s been a while, and you deserve a break.”

“Well, now that I’m no longer at the hospital, I have no one to talk to. Sure, they take my calls, but I know they’re busy.”

Most of Mom’s friends were work friends. I couldn’t imagine what loneliness she must be experiencing now. “You could volunteer?”

“Maybe when we return. Last night, we had news vans out on our lawn asking questions. They made it hard for everyone to reach their driveways. I doubt I’ll receive any Christmas cards this year.”

“I’m sorry, Mom.”

“It’s okay, honey. It’s not your fault.”

But it was. I brought Paul into our lives. And wherever he went the press wanted to know about it.

The phone muffled. “Dad wants to speak to you really quick.”

“Great! Dad, you there?”

“Yes, I am, kid. Now, what did you go and do now? Your boyfriends put us on a huge ranch. He’s the most cautious, paranoid man in the world.”

I laughed. “He wants to make sure you’re comfortable.”

“A small village would be comfortable here. Everything’s big in Texas. I’m going to take a car to the dining room to eat, but don’t worry about us. We’re going to be ranchers for the summer. I always wanted to ride horses and see The Alamo.”

Dad had his usual humor and was taking the change in stride; I loved that about him. Besides, he needed time away from hospitals. But this trip sounds longer than I thought it would be.

“I love you, Daddy.”
