My jaw dropped as I recognized those high cheekbones, vibrant blue eyes, and sexy, mischievous grin. “Holy shit. Is that Logan?” He looked the same except for the hair, eyeliner, and… “Are those zebra print spandex pants?”

“Logan was a fan of spandex.” Ruin’s laughter bounced over the music. “He wore a hot pink thong over a pair of gold pants once, and he still managed to bring home multiple hotties that night for some group fun.”

If the high demon could go out dressed that ridiculously and own it, he’d definitely mastered the concept of confidence.

“So you guys have known each other for a while?” Now that the demon lord had loosened up, he didn’t seem as slippery and slick as he had when we first met. I still didn’t trust him, though. No nightworlder, even Logan, had been honest with me. They all had their own agendas, and I sure as hell wouldn’t fall for their charm again.

Ruin placed the picture back on the table. “The things we’ve seen and done together would shock you.”

“I can only imagine the trouble you two got into.” Had Fane been involved in their mischievous exploits? Knots fisted in my stomach envisioning the demon shifter partying with the lord of sin over here, the king of confidence, and all the gorgeous women that fell into their snares.

Stop thinking about Fane Maverick.

Knowing him, he probably brooded in a corner most of the time. Still, women would have been enticed by that alone. He could have anyone.

“What’s with the sudden frown?” Ruin closed the gap between us and pressed his fingers on the sides of my mouth, tugging them up. “Much better.”

I pulled his hand away, scowling. “If you tell me I should smile more often, I’ll throat-punch you.”

“You can do anything you like as long as you’re doing it in my company.” Ruin lifted my hand to press a kiss to the back of it when the door opened.

Perry walked in, and Ruin gave him a dark look that would have made most drop dead.

“Sorry to interrupt.” The high demon winced. “We kind of have an issue.”

“And this can’t wait until later?” Ruin crossed his arms and glared at Perry.

The other demon palmed the back of his neck. “One of your jewels has gone missing. The ones you keep tucked away in the club.”

Ruin’s eyebrow arched. “Whichjewel?”

“One of the large, newly obtained ones.”

A string of unrecognizable words burst out of the demon lord. He turned to me, flashing a tight smile that didn’t reach his eyes. “I have to take care of something. I’ll be back in ten minutes.”

What the hell kind of jewels did the demon lord hide in his club? “It’s getting late. I should probably—”

“No, stay.” He motioned to the wet bar. “Have another drink and relax. I’ll be right back.”

Ruin and Perry vanished out the door, leaving me alone in the apartment. I could snoop around to find out why he wanted the Infernal Sol. My gaze drifted to his bedroom door. Maybe there was information hidden in there.

And probably lots of naughty things.

No. I wouldnotenter his room. I didn’t want to cross that line or give him any reason to believe I would ever go there.

The song ended, and I marched to the player to start a new one. Hell. I had no idea how to work one of these archaic things.

I searched through his collection, found a name I recognized—Stevie Nicks—and slid the vinyl out. When I was young, a foster mom at one of the good homes loved Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac. She would wrap a shawl around my shoulders and teach me to dance.

I placed the other record back in its cardboard case and set the new one on the player. How do I turn this thing on?

“You have to press that button then put the needle on the record.”

A screech burst out of my mouth as I spun to find Fane leaning against a marble column a few feet away.Son of a motherfucker. “How long have you been here?”

“Long enough.” He pointed to the legwarmers and gloves Ruin shoved on me. “I see the demon lord is already playing dress up with his new doll. Soon, he’ll want to play doctor in his bedroom.”

“Go bother someone else.” I yanked the gloves off and tossed them on a chair. My attention fell on the small metal tin on the table across the room, and I frowned.
