“Hey, watch that tone with me,” I growled. “I’m already in a shit mood having to deal with Able’s ass. I don’t feel like hearing you yell at me because your wife spreads her legs for anything with a pulse. Take that up with her.” I pushed my temper down, running my fingers through my hair as I sat up straight. “You need to get him to back off my site.”

“What? How the fuck am I supposed to do that?”

“Didn’t I tell you to watch your tone?” I snapped. “He’s your friend, isn’t he? Deal with it.”

“We’re not friends.”

“That’s not what I’ve been hearing.”

He scoffed. “So you sit around gossiping like an old woman? How manly of you.”

I chuckled. “My masculinity is firmly intact, trust me. I don’t have to prove that to you or anyone else.” I leaned forward, going over the information on my screen. “If that hospital isn’t constructed in time, we both lose money, Weston. I shouldn’t have to tell you that. My construction firm, your clients, our work; it’s all going to suffer.”

Weston went quiet. “Yeah.”

“Do you want that?” I pushed.

“No.”

“So, call off your dog. There’s no going back on this contract. I’m not going to suddenly say fuck it, let’s dissolve things and let that vulture have what’s mine. Do you understand me?” More silence. “Mr. Weston, I’m going to need to hear you open your mouth and speak. Do you understand me?”

“Yes.”

“Good boy.” I grinned. Ash walked in and stared at me. “I gotta go. We’ll meet up tomorrow to discuss progress. After I get my machines repaired, the work goes on.”

“Okay.”

I hung up. It was best to let Weston stew in his own misery. Dropping the bomb about his wife hadn’t been planned, but he irritated me with that smart-ass tone in his voice. I’d wanted to reach through the phone and smash his face in, but I kept my composure pretty well. Benito would be proud. As Ash continued to stare at me, I raised a brow.

“What?” I asked.

“Who was that? You called them a good boy.”

I grinned. “Wouldn’t you like to know?”

Ash laid both his hands on my desk before he leaned closer to me. “Yes, I would. Who was it? Why are you calling them a good boy?”

“Maybe because he was a good boy.” Ash’s eyes looked worried, and I quickly stopped joking. “It was that dickhead Weston, that’s all. Calling him a good boy makes him feel like he has a small dick.”

“Oh.” Ash straightened up. “How do you know?”

“Because men who give a damn about appearing ‘masculine’ always get butthurt by the dumbest fucking things.” I shrugged. “I mean you’re what? Five foot five on a good day?”

“I’m five foot six,” he growled.

“And you bend me over and fuck me every damn day. If I were a lesser man, I’d give a fuck.” I shrugged. “Here I am,notgiving a fuck.”

Ash shook his head. “That’s a lie. Whenever I call Benito your boss, you lose your mind.”

My eyes narrowed. I leaned forward, ready to wipe that little grin off his lips. I was the only one he would ever answer to. I didn’t give a damn who else was above me. He would worship me and meonly.

“I’m your boss now,” I pointed out. “Did you forget you work for me? You’re my secretary.”

“Only on the official documents,” he said, putting his nose in the air. “We both know that.”

“You just brought me coffee.”

“That’s because you get cranky if you don’t have it,” he specified. “Besides, we know who runs things.”
