I had been in their shoes, scaring a prisoner, so I took it all with a grain of salt so I could keep my wits about me. But they were going into graphic details that made my blood boil. They talked of the shows she put on at Royal Road before as the hired exotic dancer, where she showed off her contortionist skills and her body. Maren was upset, too. She flopped around like a fish beside me.

Fish? I thought of the biker I was supposed to meet up with from the Road Monsters MC. Now, I was sure the person didn’t even exist.

“It’s a real shame we have to kill Leviathan,” Pagan said to Kingpin. “He deserves it. But we should at least let him beg for his life again.”

“Maybe,” Kingpin replied. “We’ll let him live long enough to watch us string up his whore like he always wanted his revenge on the Asphalt Gods MC. We owe him that much.”

I was on my way to Royal Road, but not to rescue my daughters and leave to be with Maren. My woman and I, my Treasure and her Monster, were headed for certain death. And I had no idea how to escape it.

As I racked my brain for a solution, Maren’s small hands landed on me. Had she not been cuffed? No, I felt the shackle hanging from one of her wrists. Of course, the contortionist could escape from anything. She had shown me that before, escaping the chains I had left her in when I first discovered she was a spy.

Reaching up, she quietly tugged the hood off my head. Our eyes met in the dark. Hers were wide, terrified but determined. She carefully tried to pull down my gag but could not. She had not been able to remove her own either. Then she rolled into me. I wondered what on earth she was doing until I felt her tuck one of her small pistols in my jean’s pocket. My brothers had been foolish and didn’t search her. I wanted to protest. Her hands were free, so she needed a gun. But Maren lifted her hands and showed me she had one, too.

We didn’t have to talk. I knew when my brothers opened the hatch to get us out, we would have to take our chances.

If we were to die at least we would down fighting.

The End for Now
