Jax swore. “If he means the money you’ve been saving to get married and buy a house together, I’ll kill him.”

Aria’s eyes were glassy with tears, but she didn’t let them fall. She stood strong and defiant and courageous in the face of this betrayal.

“It’s been weeks and you’ve done nothing about it. I’m tired of waiting. I found someone new who wants what I want.”

The guy who she’d been sitting with stood and held his hands up. “I want nothing to do with this. Or you.” He tossed some bills on the table to cover the tab, walked past all the eyes on them, and headed for the door.

“Next time he comes in, his order is on the house,” Aria told Jax, who nodded.

“Now look what you’ve done.” Hillary tightened her hands into fists, then her gaze shot over to all of them witnessing her drama. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”

Dan turned and followed Hillary’s glaring gaze right to Aria.

Hillary only had eyes for Max and if she could kill him with a look, she would have.

Dan looked like a deer in the headlights but rushed over anyway. “Aria. It’s not what it seems.”

“It’snotcomplicated,” she said, using his words against him. “Seems to me I’m free of you.”

“You don’t mean that.” He reached for her.

She stepped back so he couldn’t touch her. “Let me make it clear. I never want to see you again. Get out of my bar. Do not ever step foot in here again, or I will have you arrested for trespassing.”

Dan turned to Aria’s sister, who had joined their circle, and took her hand. “Lyric, help me out here.”

Out of nowhere the biker guy intervened and hooked his hand around the ex’s upper arm and pulled him away from Lyric and Aria. “Don’t ever touch her.”

Lyric and Melody stepped back and out of the way.

“Lyric,” the ex pleaded, knowing Lyric had a good heart and sweet disposition, and helping others was in her DNA. Just like Kenna.

The biker dude shoved the guy toward the exit. “You don’t speak to or look at her ever again.”

“You know I love her! She’ll listen to you!” Dan tried to get Lyric on his side, hoping the close relationship Lyric had with her sister would help.

All it got him was a smack to the back of the head by the biker guy and shoved out the door.

The patrons in the bar clapped, happy to see the cheater ousted, because everyone loved Aria and didn’t want to see her hurt. Plus, it was a great show and a good story for all of them to tell to all their friends and coworkers the next day.

Hillary didn’t read the crowd well and tried to approach them.

Aria stood between Max and Hillary. “Don’t even think about it. He had nothing to do with this. Like his breakup with Kenna, you instigated all of it. You set this all up becauseagainyou wanted someone who was already with someone else.”

Hillary looked straight at Kenna. “I don’t know who is more pathetic. You fell for a lie.” She turned back to Aria. “Your man didn’t even blink when I came on to him. He was all over me in an instant.”

“You’re right. He’s as pathetic as you. And as alone now as you are and will always be.” Aria didn’t back down when Hillary took a menacing step toward her. “If you think you can take me, bring it. But I warn you, I fight dirty, in case you didn’t notice by the way I set you up tonight.”

“You’re such a bitch.” Hillary turned her sharp gaze back to Kenna. “You’re pathetic.”

Max stayed close to Kenna and his cousin ready to step in if Hillary took things too far.

Kenna held her own. “If being pathetic means I’m happy and with the man I love, who never wanted you, then I’m okay with that.”

“Bitch.”

“Jealousy doesn’t look good on you. Everyone can see it.” Kenna stared past Hillary at all the gazes on them.

Hillary glanced over her shoulder and seemed to catch herself.
