Reaching into my purse, I dig out my phone and pull up Grayson’s number.

I love them. Thank you.

I put my purse under my desk and turn on my computer before my phone dings.

Hopefully it makes up for me being gone and unable to leave you one each morning.

They do, but I’d rather have you here.

Miss me, Princess?

I do.

I’ve been thinking a lot about you too. I’m about to enter this meeting and won’t be able to message you. I’d like to call you tonight.

Please do.

I’m giddy. So giddy, my leg is bouncing in the air. This man does crazy things to my head and heart. The last couple of days I buried myself in work as a distraction. I’ve missed him so much I’ve been walking around in a lovesick daze, but didn’t want to be the one to make the first move. I wanted to know he missed me too. The dozen roses were a very clear message—he does.

Glancing at my clock, I realize the day has flown by. The book I read and made notes on helped keep my attention. Sending off a couple emails, I then shut down everything for the day. I smell the roses before gathering my purse and heading out the door.

On the way home, I pick up lasagna from Rosetta’s and once home, I open a nice bottle of red to pair with it. A TV show keeps my attention while I anxiously wait for Grayson’s call.

The TV is turned off and with the sun now set, I have the end table light on while I read for pleasure instead of work. I’m barely a few pages in when my phone rings.

“Grayson.”

“Hi, Princess.”

The sound of his voice instantly brings heat to my center.

“How’s the meeting been?”

“Far less exciting than being at home with you.”

I bite back my grin. “I’m looking forward to seeing you when you return.”

“I’ll be happy to see you too. Would you like to have dinner with me on Friday?”

“Yes.”

“Have you thought a lot about me while I’ve been gone?”

“Probably too much.”

“You didn’t call or text me.”

My cheeks flush. “I didn’t want to bother you. I figured you were busy.”

“I have been, but it hasn’t stopped me from thinking about you.”

“I like hearing you say that.”

“What else would you like to hear?”

“What you thought about me.”

“Do you want details?” His tone is sensual, challenging.
