"I know." She sat down next to me on the couch. "Even if I could help you, I probably wouldn't. He'll track my magic until my twenty-first birthday and that's in a few months. Speaking of birthdays, didn't you just celebrate yours?"

I nodded, licking my lips as I remembered the festive but naughty celebration.

"What did you do?" she asked.

"Got engaged." I held up my ring.

Millicent's mouth fell open and her eyes widened in shock. "I didn’t even notice." She grabbed my hand. "Those are some big diamonds. And three of them."

"Yes, I totally wasn't expecting it either."

"Wait a minute. Samson proposed...?"

"Hell no. I'm not engaged to Samson. I'll never mate or marry him," I said.

"Your demon then," she gasped.

"Correct."

“So your father was wrong about this Alpha Omega prophesy between you and Samson, and my father was right—you’ve deserted your duties. No offense, but that’s the way I see it. That’s the way my father sees it too.” She scratched her chin. “Which demon proposed? I mean, we haven't even talked about them yet. What are their names?"

"They proposed together. I'll marry them all. When I get them back. Altair. Morpheus. And Dominik."

She shook her head. “No way. You are really fucked up, Sadie. Summoning demons and fornicating with them.”

"If you say so. But they're real, which is what I tried to tell you and Sydney years ago. I can touch them just like real men, but they are so much better than I think real men can be. They don’t even compare.”

"Do you...have sex with them together? Please tell me you don't."

I didn't answer, but I was sure my heavy blushing told her everything she needed to know.

"Oh. My. God. What would Sydney say?"

I shrugged. "Probably same as you. She'd be shocked."

"My guess is that Samson's not happy about this. Dude. You've just instigated so much shit, it's not even funny." She nudged me playfully. "And you dare to ask me to get involved by helping you with that reversal? I'm fearless and bold too, but not that bold. You're not going to have Samson and his wolves coming after me."

"I know, but I'd do anything for Altair, Morpheus, and Dom. They’ve done so much for me. Even in the past, they sacrificed so much and I didn't even know it."

"My father and the rest of the covens are still angry with you for cutting off their access to ancestral magic. We know your father created the damn loophole allowing us access for an unspecified period of time, but your cut-off was swift with absolutely no warning.”

“I didn’t have much time,” I interjected.

“I know, but there are orders to capture and detain you on sight. I'm glad you called me because my word of advice is to get away from here just like Sydney did, especially if you plan to keep them from using ancestral magic."

I felt a pang of guilt and shame, I had never intended to harm my coven, but my desperation to stop Finn and get my sister back had blinded me to the consequences of my actions.

"I made decisions I'm not proud of but I'm going to fix them. I just need time." Suddenly, I thought of something. “Millicent, you’ve always been a friend. I know you’re not allowed magic right now, but what if I allowed you, and only you, access to the ancestral realm?”

She grabbed my hands, eyes widened. “Would you do that?”

I nodded. “I would. I never meant to deprive people of accessing the powers for what it was intended for. To protect others that can’t protect themselves. Finn and others have used it to cause strife and the death of others. I would do that, and you can decide what you do with it, but my spell would only give you access to the powers. It would not be a free for all like it was in the past. This magic cannot be misused. We need guardians for the magic held in the ancestral lands and I believe you’ll make a great one.”

She blushed. “Thank you. And I think your father would be so happy you’re doing the right thing.”

“I hope he is.”

“We can guard that realm from misuse, both you and I. So let Finn go. I heard he's missing and he's probably dead anyway. Focus on finding your sister now.”
