“I have to go to the medical center tomorrow morning at ten o’clock to see a patient.”

“What?” Georgia’s brows furrowed as we pulled into the driveway. “Jackson, we have plans tomorrow. “We were going to breakfast and then do our wedding registry.”

“Shit.” I shook my head as I climbed out of the car.

“And why are you just telling me this now?”

“Because it literally just happened.” I slid the key into the lock and opened the door.

“What do you mean?”

“Aunt Barb pulled me aside at the party and said she has a friend who needs to be seen immediately, and she wants it to be tomorrow. She said she wouldn’t ask if it wasn’t important.”

“Okay. Her friend can wait until Monday. What’s one more day?”

“I don’t know, Georgia. Something was off with her. She’s being extremely secretive, and she told me that our conversation never happened. The only thing I can think of is that there is no friend, and the appointment is for her. And if I’m right, she doesn’t want to come in when everyone is there.”

“Oh, my God. Do you really think something is wrong with her?”

“I don’t know.” I gripped her hips. “I’ll shoot her a text message and ask her to come at eight o’clock. That way, I’ll be done in plenty of time for us to go to breakfast and do our wedding registry.” I kissed her forehead.

“Okay. God, now I’m all worried,” she said.

“Me too, babe. Me too.”

I pulled my phone from my pocket and sent Aunt Barb a text message.

“I forgot that Georgia and I have plans tomorrow. Can you and your friend come to the medical center at eight o’clock instead of ten?”

“Eight o’clock is fine. Thank you, Jackson. We’ll see you tomorrow.”

CHAPTER20

Jackson

I pulled into a parking spot and stepped through the medical center's doors.

“Good morning, Dr. Kind. What are you doing here on a Sunday?” Ralph, our weekend security guard, asked.

“Good morning, Ralph. My Aunt Barb and a friend are coming in at eight o’clock. Send them up when they arrive.”

“I will, Dr. Kind.”

“Thanks.” I smiled as I took the stairs up to the second floor.

After unlocking my practice door, I turned on all the lights and went into my office. Glancing at my watch, I saw the time was seven-fifty. I heard the door open, so I stepped out of my office. When I got to the waiting room, I saw Aunt Barb and a man standing there.

“There you are,” Aunt Barb spoke.

“Good morning.” I kissed her cheek.

“Jackson, this is Ian—” She paused for a moment. “Ian Kind, your uncle.”

My heart began to race as I stood there and stared at him.

“Ian, this is Dr. Jackson Kind, Liam’s oldest son.”

“I know who he is, Barb. It’s so good to meet you finally,” he extended his hand.
