“I talked with Charlotte this morning about our discussion yesterday.”

“You mean our fight?” Her brow arched.

“We don’t fight, babe. We had a discussion. Anyway, I want you to know the reason why I became so upset when you said you weren’t sure if you were taking my last name.”

“Okay.” A worried look crossed her face.

“My past was starting to resurface.”

“You mean with Jane?” Her brows furrowed.

“Yeah, and everything that happened. I just got so scared that you didn’t want to take my name because you didn’t believe we’d make it as a couple.”

“Oh God, Jackson.” She brought her hands up and placed them on my cheeks. “We are going to be together forever. I’m in this for the long haul because I will never love anyone as I love you.”

“And the same goes for me. I know how much you love me, and I was stupid for letting my past creep up like that. After you told me you were taking the Kind name, I got to thinking. You have built a successful life and career based on the Scott name, and I don’t want you to give that up.”

“Too bad, Jackson.” The corners of her mouth curved upward. “I will be Mrs. Georgia Kind and Dr. Georgia Kind.”

“No, babe. You won’t.”

“Do you really want to argue about this again?” She sternly spoke.

I smiled as I brought my hand up to her cheek. “You’re going to become Mrs. and Dr. Georgia Scott-Kind.”

“We’ll see.” She leaned over and kissed me. “I love you, and I’m tired.” She laid her head on my chest.

“There’s no we’ll see, Georgia. That’s how it’s going to be. End of discussion. We need to pick a wedding date.”

“We will tomorrow, babe. Go to sleep.”

CHAPTER6

Georgia

I took my pill when I climbed out of bed, and Jackson and I got ready and headed to work.

“There’s my Georgia sunshine.” Conner grinned when I walked into the kitchen area. “How are you feeling?” He kissed my cheek.

“I’m okay. Thank you for asking.” I took down my cup and brewed a cup of coffee.

“Aunt Georgia!” Ella ran in and hugged me.

“Hey, you.” I smiled.

“Excuse me?” Conner placed his hand on his hips. “What about me?”

“Hi, Uncle Conner.” She hugged him.

He picked her up and set her on the island.

“What are you doing here?” I asked.

“School was canceled. They have no power. So, Dad said I could come to work today. Are you feeling better?”

“I am.” I smiled as I tapped her on the nose.

“Come on, my favorite niece.” Conner picked her up from the island. “I have a patient coming in soon, and I know she’s dying to meet you.”
