“No, I haven’t been, but I’ve wanted to be. Have you ever been dominant while having sex?”

“No. But I’ve wanted to be.”

“Well, you’re gonna get a mild taste of it tonight while I get a big taste of you.”

“What if I like dominating you and you like it too?”

“Then we’ll keep playing out that fantasy in different ways.”

I looked over Stevie’s face, coming to rest on her beautiful deep blue eyes again. “I’ll never hurt you.”

“I know. And I’ll never hurt you either when it’s my turn to take charge.”

I smiled. “I can so easily see you taking charge of me and taking exactly what you want.”

“Same here.”

The song was nearing its end and I wanted to seize one more opportunity with Stevie if possible. After glancing around andstill not seeing any of our party group close by, I dipped Stevie back and held her body in mid-air while she kept her arms wrapped around my neck. Our mouths were even closer now and I couldn’t resist kissing her any longer. I pressed my lips against hers. Then hers parted and our tongues entangled. It was brief, it was risky and it was worth it.

When I raised Stevie back up, she smiled and then nodded at my mouth. I knew it was covered in her sparkly lip gloss, so I quickly wiped it away even though I didn’t want to. Then we started walking back to our table without holding hands.

Brooke and Ian, along with Jason, Ellie, Jennifer, David and their spouses and significant others, got back to the table at the same time. Bash was still sitting where we’d all left him and he was giving me another one of his sly grins. When I sat back down beside him, he leaned over to tell me something.

“I saw that kiss, Romeo,” he quietly said.

“And?”

“I would’ve done the same damn thing to Juliet.”

I WAS THEfirst person the limo driver took home after Brooke’s birthday party. My boss hugged me goodbye before I got out of the limo, looked at me in a knowing way that we both understood, and then Zac and Bash walked me to my front door. They told me goodbye and also goodnight although my night was far from being over. I knew that as soon as the limo driver dropped off Zac at his house, he’d be in his car and making his way back to me. I’d be ready for him, too. Ready to do to him what I’d said I was going to do while we were slow-dancing at Candleroom.

I was standing in the kitchen when my cellphone chimed with a text message. Only one person would ever text me this late and it was Zac. He was almost to my house and needed me to open my garage door so that he could park there for the rest of the night and probably for most of the coming morning too.

As soon as he turned off his Blazer’s engine, I lowered the garage door and watched him get out of his car. When he made it over to where I was standing in the open doorway that led into my house, he dropped his overnight bag onto the floor, grabbed my face, and then pulled me to him. Then he started kissingme and he kissed me really hard. It felt like an angry kiss. No, this was a hungry kiss that I was experiencing. A starving kiss. Although we’d just left each other’s company less than an hour ago, we simply could not get enough of each other. I knew that I was his drug of choice and he was definitely mine. I wanted to shoot Zac straight into my veins and let him burn them up.

By the time he pulled his lips away from mine, we were both breathless. Then he said, “Let’s go inside. Now.”

I started backing up into the hallway as Zac kept walking toward me, closing the door behind him. Then he pulled me to him again but this time, he did more than that. He lifted me up underneath my arms, I wrapped them around his neck and my legs around his waist, and then we started kissing again. And while we were, Zac carried me all the way down the hallway to my bedroom.

After making it over to my bed, he fell forward onto it with me underneath him. Feeling his body on top of mine and also feeling his erection pressing into me through his pants and my dress, I couldn’t help but moan because I wanted him so much. But not yet.

“First things first,” I said.

Zac searched my eyes, then started grinning. “Okay.”

“Give me just a minute to get things ready.”

He sat on the edge of my bed as I walked over to close my bedroom door, then grabbed my portable speaker from my bathroom. After turning it on, I set it down on top of my dresser and synced my cellphone with it so that I could play a song from my playlist. It was the song by Hozier that Zac and I had slow danced to at Candleroom. I wanted to listen to it again while we did a different kind of dance. One that I knew my lover was going to greatly enjoy and so was I.

As soon as “Movement” began playing, Zac smiled at me, and then I lit the candle trio on my dresser and also the one onmy nightstand. After that, I turned out all the lights and walked back over to Zac, whose blue eyes were flickering along with the candlelight.

“Take my dress off me…if you want to,” I said.
